Space Scene Construction Kit and the Rift
Has anyone purchased Space for Unity on the asset store?

I'm really interested in using this as a skybox, but I'm not sure if I can expect lots of depth troubles using it with the Rift.
I'm guessing it can be made to work even if it won't out of the box, but I don't have my rift yet and am a little reluctant to drop the cash without knowing :-).

- SiggiGProtegeThere are issues you need to work out since this kit uses a secondary camera to render the background.

i assume you tried it out for evr then? have you solved the issues, or ended up building something own? - CosbyTronHonored GuestThanks for pointing that out. I'll have to do a little digging to see if it's going to be more trouble than its worth. The package still looks really promising. It may be worth the effort to have a dynamic, animated sky.
I'm looking to use it for a platformerer, I don't need to interact with the planets, asteroids, etc. I'm guessing the second camera means it renders as a 2d plane? That's fine so long as it renders at infinity in the final stereo output.. I think.. :-D - SiggiGProtege

I used it very early on to prototype some things yes, but we ended up building our own and using a box mesh for skybox. I'm sure it's possible to get it to work, I just didn't have time to figure it out and in the end the spherical multi-layer skybox just didn't give us more benefit over a normal skybox. - Species5618Honored GuestHi there,
I have had sometime to toy around with the space contruction kit.
I added the oculus controler, and it works pretty wel..
The only thing i changed was:
- Set distance clipping to.. A very large number.
- Do not change your 2 cam's (oculus independ cam''s) to render "depth only", it will messup the picture.
- And set the sky box color to black.
Also in edited mode the picture sometimes looks messeup, but it will render nicely when you build&runn your game.
The rest of the kit is very flexible so you can easly set the chase cam to be your oculus controller, etc.
Its a lot of fun playing around with the oculus and the space kit.
Atleast the basics seem to work, not sure what will happen if you try to do some advanced stuff.
But i guess there is usualy a way around issues that migh happen.
Cheers - rjeProtegeI'm using this in First Law but there were several modifications that I had to make to get everything working. So it can be done but you'll have to do things like get multiple ovr camera controllers working, make your own skybox for the starfield, etc.
- dcrosbyHonored GuestI'm working on just getting the default Space Ship, and Environment to work, and I will try and post my findings, but if anybody has a step by step, on how to get the cameras to work with the Foreground / Background Camera Rendering system for space, that would be nice to post for everybody to follow.
