Stencil shadows a la Quake 3
I've read somewhere that shadow mapping is absolutely bad for mobile VR.
Would stencil shadows (a la Quake 3's shadows; not blobs) perform much better in VR ?
Has anyone tried creating stencil shadows in Unity 5 non-Pro ? (is it even possible)

Ooh, thanks for the second link!
I am not sure about the first one. It seems to be more in line with Doom 3 shadow volumes rather than Quake 3 stencil shadows (I might be wrong of course). So I assume it's requires more computational power.
