Suggestion for VR Arms in Unity?

So I'm well aware that having virtual arms in a VR space usually gets in the way, plus our arms currently aren't being tracked when it comes to the Rift, yet. But, I wanted to try and experiment with having both your hands and arm tracked by connecting the arm portions as a child to the hands. So far I've yet to figure out a solution for this that simply works. I've been trying to make robot arms by connecting a box as the first part of your arm as a child to the Oculus controller objects in the scene. Next, I bent another box at the correct angle for the upper part of your arm and connected that one as a child of that first arm child.

So that didn't work. I thought maybe by at least limiting the arm child rotation to only one direction it would at least seem realistic so you couldn't just rotate the arm by simply waving your hand ever slightly, but it ignored me. I've never seen a tutorial talking about how this might be set up, but I've seen it done in demos and such.

Does anyone know how to set up VR arms?
