Tips for managing Rift as primary display

When I turn on my DK2 as primary display, my entire desktop and start bar move over to the RIft and leave me with a blank monitor. I have to strain my eyes through the Rift to get at windows to move everything over to the secondary (real monitor) display to work. This happens a lot.

Does anyone have suggestions for utilities or tricks that make this whole situation easier?

Edit: This is in Windows 8.1 with all the latest Oculus stuff.

  • With extended mode, you can make open windows switch screens by pressing WINDOWS + SHIFT + LEFT/RIGHT ARROW.
  • thanks, didn't know about that shortcut. I just got my DK2 and so far setting the configuration up for extended mode rift but using it as the primary display is the only way I can get everything to work. Direct to rift gives me the both images in the top left corner issue and extended mode didn't really work for me either without making the rift the primary display.

Lava Inc on DK2 was mind blowing :)

    OMG thank you!

Is that in the manual? It should be if not.
