Unable Initialize VR & Player Controller Won't Move
In trying to use the OVR player controller, I'm getting the warning "Unable initialize VR. Please make sure the runtime is installed and running and a VR display is attached" and my game appears in monoscopic view with the text "VR Disabled." This happens even when I have the DK2 connected. (And I got the impression I didn't even have to connect it, but could see each eye's view on my computer.) In the configuration utility, Oculus itself runs the demo world correctly, so I'm assuming the runtime is working ok on this computer.
However, I can't get administrator access to this particular computer (the only one I've gotten the Oculus demo working on) so I can't download new software. I'm hoping I can fix the issue without downloading anything else.
As for the computers I do have administrative access to, one is a mac laptop, so I can't install the runtime, one doesn't seem to have a supported graphics card, and one crashes every time I try to run the Oculus demo, so I haven't made much progress with testing my own game on those. I'd like to get my game running on the first computer, since that seems the closest to working, but I'd also be happy to hear tips for handling issues with the other computers.
Additionally, the OVR player controller won't move in the scene when I press the arrow keys, which I thought was an included feature. (Or is this something I have to code myself?)
I'm entirely new to both Oculus and Unity, so I may be missing something obvious, but I'd appreciate any help! Thanks so much!

- cyberealityGrand ChampionAre you on the latest 0.6.0.1 runtime (Windows only) and using the Unity 5.1 built-in VR support?
I'm guessing no, and most likely the app is just having errors which stop it from working. Can you look in the console (in the bottom middle of the Unity interface) and let me know if you see any warning/errors after you press Play? - MiniRackerHonored GuestThe runtime version may be the problem; the documentation says I'm using 0.4.4. Otherwise, I am using the Unity VR support and there are no warnings in the console. Is there anything I can do with this runtime? (Since I can't update it without admin status.) Or do you have suggestions for the other computers (particularly the one that crashes upon demo run)? Thanks again!
- cyberealityGrand ChampionThat is a very old runtime and is no longer supported. Please speak with your sys admin and get that updated.
- MiniRackerHonored GuestI managed to get the new versions of the software! However, now, when I try to run the demo, I just get a black screen (on both the computer and the Oculus.) And when I try to run a game in Unity, it appears in monoview on the screen, does not appear on the headset, and the character doesn't move with the arrow keys. (Although when I rotate the headset the view on the computer does rotate.)
Additionally, when I run Unity game, I get these log messages:
[CAPI] LibOVR module is located at C:\Windows\system32\LibOVRRT64_0_6.dll
Unity v5.1.0f3, Oculus Utilities v.0.1.0, OVRPlugin v0.5.0.
Creating volume controller... UnityEngine.Debug:Log(Object)
Any suggestions? Thanks! - cyberealityGrand ChampionCan you provide these log files (the first 2 are enough)?

My guess is that you are either using an AMD GPU in Extended mode (which is not currently supported) or have the Rift display configured incorrectly. The Rift needs to be at 1920x1080 75Hz and (in Extended Mode) should be to the right side of your monitor (none of the Rift coordinates should be negative). - MiniRackerHonored GuestI'm using the Rift in direct mode. I went to my computer's display settings and can only configure the computer monitor to 1280x1024. (There's supposed to be a separate display for the Rift?)
I've pasted the Config log file below. (The other one is something like 9,000 pages long, is there a way I can just attach it to a post instead of copy-pasting the entire thing? I don't see an attach button on this thread.) Thanks again!
EDIT: The Oculus blue light comes on in extended mode, I can configure it, and it shows the desktop, but the demo still won't run. There is no display and the light remains orange in direct mode.

} - cyberealityGrand ChampionLooks like you're using a NVIDIA Quadro K600. Unfortunately only consumer graphics card are officially supported. Many people using Quadros have experienced problems, and it's likely the Oculus service is just crashing due to this.
However, I have added upload permissions to your account, so please try to attach the server logs (which may give a more specific error message). Thanks. - MiniRackerHonored GuestAh, okay. I'm having difficulty attaching that server log on this forum. (Perhaps it's just too long.) Anyway, it seems you're right about the graphics card.
However, I have begun trying to get oculus working on a computer that is supposed to have a compatible graphics card. Unfortunately, whenever I try to run the demo, there is only a black screen. Within seconds, the config util stops detecting the headset, closes the demo, displays a "Service Crashed" message, and starts detecting the dk2 again. Is this a problem you know how to fix? I have pasted the config and attached the server log for this second computer as well.
Thanks!
