Unity 4.6.3 Preferences "Build for Oculus Rift" not showing

I have the camera and everything working in my Unity project, just like before. There used to be a "Build for Oculus Rift" menu item in preferences you could check which would create a "Direct To Rift" build. This has suddenly disappeared and now builds do not build "Direct to Rift" for the PC or Mac.

Is there something that triggers this to appear? I have OVR imported into my project. Kinda baffled here. Any ideas?

  • I don't recall having to choose "Build for Oculus Rift" before, it always seemed to work by default.

Can you list which version of Unity you use? Also your OS, and system specs?
  • I'm running Unity 4.6.3 on OS X Yosemite 10.10.2. Running on a late 2013 MacBook Pro Retina.

It's in preferences or it was... Right below Cache... It was a checkbox.. that said "Build for the Oculus Rift"

I know I have seen it multiple times. When you select the checkbox and then you build, you get a "directtorift.exe" or "directtorift.app

It only appeared after you added imported the oculus unity package and then put the OVR camera in the scene.

Does this make sense to anyone? Or am I going insane while building my massively complex unity/oculus project? LOL!
  • Think I have it figured out... unless I am wrong when you add in the OVR character controller that triggers the Oculus checkbox to show up in preferences.
