Unity 5.0.1 judder

I have some judder/jitter/hiccups when playing my unity scene and I'm wondering why...

I've Unity 5.0.1 with Oculus runtime 0.5.0.1 for windows. I have a very simple project that I built in 4.6 - I opened that in Unity 5 and it converted it fine. The scene looks a whole lot better, it's really great. But, I get some judder which doesn't occur when I run the version created with 4.6. Unity 5 is installed on a brand new machine which hasn't made a build before so there's a chance it's my config. I did enable the 'Optimise for Rift' build option.

Should I be ok with Unity 5.0.1?

The judder is a little strange, I can't be sure it's an FPS drop, because when I press space bar, the FPS display doesn't appear!?

Any thoughts to save me some tinkering time?

I have encountered some similar problems, and I don't have an exact fix. One thing that has fixed some of my scenes is rather than upgrading an existing Unity 4 project, making a new blank Unity 5 project and importing just the pieces I need. I've found that a new Unity 5 project with the new OVR integration dropped in just seems to work better than converting. Kind of a pain, but worth trying.
