Unity 5.1.1f1 integration with DK1

I've been away from VR development for a while and kind of lost regarding what runtime and unity integration I should download. I've made a couple of searches and apparently the latest runtime works with the DK1, haven't tested it myself.

I also noticed this link: viewtopic.php?f=37&t=25882 and viewtopic.php?f=37&t=24342

What do you all recommend downloading in terms of the oculus runtime, and unity integration? I'm currently on:
- DK1
- runtime: 0.4.4
- Win 8 64bit with latest updates
- my project is made on Unity 5.1.1f1
- geforce gt 720 driver version: 356.04

My rift runs ok on the old 0.4.4 runtime, but when I use the Unity Integration files that were listed next to the 0.4.4 runtime files, it works in Unity, but the image flickers (only) when I pitch my head. I'm guessing its due to the fact that these integration files were made for Unity 4.x.

Thanks in advanced :)

  • Install the latest public runtime (0.8). Install the Unity 5 version from that thread you linked to. Install the latest Nvidia driver. One thing I'm not sure about is that old/low-end video card. It may be compatible, but I doubt you'll be able to do much with it.

Hey Cyber, thanks. You're right about the video card. I'll report back once I test 0.8. Thanks again!

Unfortunately after installing 0.8, my DK1 gets a no signal message, and goes black. If rollback a few versions, I get my display back. I updated to the latest video card driver too.

    UPDATE:
I tried my rift with the latest Virtual Desktop and it works. Perhaps it was the game was not compatible. The screen going black is normal behavior I guess. Turns on when needed. I'll try Unity now :)
  • Yes. The screen is supposed to stay black unless you are playing a VR game.
