Unity Patch 5.2.2p4 is out
www.unity3d.com/unity/qa/patch-releases Some VR stuff in it, but not sure if it's related to Gear VR in any way or just to desktop VR.
There is nothing wrong with realtime lighting, you just need to be aware of the cost, and pay for it by simplifying something else in your scene.
