Unity Per Install Fee
With the introduction of Unity Per Install Fees, I'm wondering what impact this will have on Meta/Oculus.
Will we see Meta switch internal projects to Unreal?
Will we see Meta dev tool support focus switch from Unity to Unreal?
The news blows my mind. I can't believe they would do such a thing. If I had picked Unity instead of Unreal my F2P project would no longer be viable.

Unity's new pricing structure is potentially really bad for us. Meta has sold the Quest with fairly low storage based on the the expectation that you can uninstall your game and reinstall whenever you want. Now that Unity is charging per install, this will destroy developers who sell their app for low cost hoping for mass adoption. I hope Meta, Google, and Apple gang up on Unity and force them to do the right thing. I've already hitched my wagon to Unity and would be almost impossible to swap to another engine, so I'm hoping to be successful...just not too successful 🤣. Either Unity needs to increase their installation thresholds, or Meta needs to allow developers to limit their sales, otherwise we could potentially hit installation fees that could wipe out all revenue.
