Unity Tuscany Demo - only black screen with sound
Hi everyone,
Just got my DK2 and installed the runtime and Unity Tuscany demo for windows downloaded from here
https://developer.oculusvr.com/?action=dl&p=sdk&v=21. However when I double click Win_OculusUnityDemoScene.exe all I get is a black screen although I can hear sound. Also the headset LED remains orange.
I tired changing Direct/Extended/Legacy and still the same problem.
I believe theres something wrong with the Unity demo because I tried the DK2 demo and the ConfigUtil demo and they both work. Is the Unity demo ready for DK2 yet and are there any changes I should make? Are there any logs I should look at?

- omgketchupHonored GuestI am encountering the same problem.
When I run the Tuscany demo, nothing works. I see the scene on my laptop screen, but nothing in the Rift.
The Oculus Config detects the rift and the camera.
The Tuscany Direct to Rift just crashes. The other one runs, but not on the DK2, and the DK2 remains a black screen.
I noticed that if the Rift is plugged in when I boot my computer, I can see the boot screen in the Oculus, but once Windows is logged in, nothing. - FredzExplorerI had this problem in several demos before I installed the 0.4.2 runtime. Was is the firmware version in the Oculus Configuration Utility (mine is 2.11) ?
- vrdavebOculus StaffDoes this issue still happen with the latest SDK and firmware?
- AnanasExplorerI get this but with Unity. I'm using DK1 though. I have the lastest SDK and Tuscany demo looked fine, but I couldn't change the eye height, prediction, timewarp etc. or use tab for the menu.
I made a new project in Unity (lastest version with lastest integration), put up a OVR character controller prefab and hit play. It worked fine. Then when I stopped and later tried again I just get a black screen. I removed the fade in texture and now it's only gray screen.
Edit: Update fixed it now - xoartHonored GuestSame problem here !
Same issue with all applications in direct mode. - vrdavebOculus StaffAre there any errors or warnings in the file "output_log.txt" under your app's _Data folder?
- herixHonored GuestI'm using SDK 0.4.2 and updated the firmware.
Here's the output_log.txt

I can build the demo from Unity but when I run it all I get is a black screen and the sound of birds chirping. This post seems to be pretty old but I don't see that anyone has posted a solution. Wondering if anyone found the fix. I am new to Unity so it could just be one of those "Oh dah' things but I don't have a clue where to start troubleshooting.
- vrdavebOculus StaffWe may be misbehaving on Intel hardware with DX9. I'll see if we can reproduce that here. In the meantime, can you try using D3D11 and/or Unity 4.5.5p4?
- AnonymousSame problem here...
latest 4.3 sdk, 4.3.1 unity demo just show black screen on device. I can see mirror on display and hear sounds.
World demo works fine.
GTX980, Windows 8.1
Gonna try the integration stuff but strange the demo doesnt work...not sure what to try....
No errors in output log
