10 years agoUpdate and running a previous 0.8 firmware Unity app
Hello,
I have an app that I built last month with the this version of Unity, 5.3.1f1, and ran fine with the Oculus 0.8 runtime.
I have now uninstalled the 0.8 runtime and installed the Oculus Setup released today. Everything installed fine and DK2 runs well on Oculus Home and many of the apps. In settings I enabled the Unknown Sources option.
When I run the app I built last month the App runs but the DK2 does nothing. Do I need to rebuild the app with the latest recommended version of Unity, 5.3.3p1, in order for it to work with the new runtime and the DK2?
Thanks

- wheatgrinderExplorerSame boat here.
So far I cant get a NEW unity project (3.3.3p1) to work with 1.3 runtime. - khos85ExplorerHi folks, where do you download the 1.3 runtime installer from, I cannot find it? Maybe I am stupid? :)
- AnonymousLooks like we need to do some updating of Unity and our apps.

It's part of Oculus Setup. - wheatgrinderExplorerwe need to use a very specific version of unity AND download and oculus plugin.

its working for me now
Or wait a bit for Unity to release an update to provide 1.3 support - cyberealityGrand ChampionYou'll need to use Unity 5.3.4p1 and update to OVRPlugin 1.3. Older Runtimes will no longer be supported with consumer hardware.
- AnonymousSo any custom app created prior to today's release of the OVRPlugin 1.3 will not run with the 1.3 runtime. In other words, the 1.3 runtime is not backward compatible. By the way, I am still on the DK2.

This worked for me - Thanks Wheatgrinder! - I just followed the instructions on the page, now when I launch my game, Oculus Home launches automatically. If I have not set Settings/General Tab/Unknown Sources, it does tell me how to do this (should be on by default imo - people know if they are launching from within Oculus Home or have clicked on an exe on their desktop or are launching from steam. This is a layer of messing around which will upset and anger some none techie types I feel.)
I am getting a weird blue bar down the right hand side of my screen for some reason when in game.
