VR Laggy When Testing Game

Hello, I am pretty new to all of this. I recently developed a simple game in VR, but whenever I press the play button in the Unity editor to test the game, the screen in my VR headset lags uncontrollably. Is this normal?

I know that my laptops specs are more than good enough for game design, so it shouldn't be because of that.

Could it be that game testing normally pretty laggy, and doing it through Oculus link is augmenting the severity of the lag? If so, will the game be less laggy when actually published?

Thanks all!

  • Very difficult to know what's going on just from what you've said.

Can you post a picture of your stats and/or profiler when in play mode?

I'm assuming you get no lag when just playing a normal game on Oculus Home (not through the editor?)

Do you get any lag if you build a brand new project with just a single cube in it?

(Trying to work out whether it's caused by the app you're working on or is a general hardware issue)

General testing isn't generally laggy. The editor does have a performance overhead but shouldn't affect things as much as you describe.
