First Project using Oculus Quest 2 and VR Preview Disabled / Greyed Out in Unreal Engien 4.27.2

Hey guys,

[This is my first post here, so please forgive me if this may not follow the standard question format].

I am trying to create my first VR project in UE4.27.2. Following this tutorial from the official Unreal site: https://learn.unrealengine.com/course/3746895/module/7254733?moduletoken=UHxxnDLPW8S0sGXTcVzwHH7SEeki9--1k06HHu-q6dp8Guzz62HVmzm9aDcqJXnT&LPId=0 But, sadly my preview VR option is disabled (screenshot attached).

General background:

MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019)

Processor 2.6 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7

Memory 16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4

Graphics Card AMD Radeon Pro 5300M 4 GB

  • if you connected with airlink, make sure enabled in the headset and hub, before you open your unreal project.

(eg close and reopen you project)

Well, I would love to use a cable link for rapid testing. So currently, using the same.

  • I had this same problem but was neglecting to open "Quest Link" inside my headset (which launches the alternative Rift-like UI) before trying to connect via Unreal. Opening "Quest Link" fixed it for me. It then worked for both USB cables and Air Link.

  • Some things that may help to check:
Was your headset on AND plugged in or connected via "Airlink" prior to opening the project?
Did you accept that your PC could access files inside your headset (you'll have to put it on and click accept)?

Honestly, for me the best practice is to start the project from inside the headset when I first start up. I have never had it grey out for me after that.
    Hopefully this has helped.
