This is an amazing move by Epic.

It is indeed.
I spent the weekend reviewing the assets. They're not the highest quality as they were intended for mobile development, but this also means they are well suited for current VR dev work. It's a great toybox for those looking to build quick and dirty. Absolutely everything you need to create a small game is included, except the audio package is said to be included, but it's not in the marketplace.

I threw together a large-ish world environment and populated with meshes and effects. It all ran butter smooth in VR.

The audio package was in the market place, but had to be removed due to an issue. Here is the response I got from Epic's marketplace support on the matter:

We discovered some issues with it and we've pulled it offline for the time being. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We are working on resolving these issues and will keep the community updated on when this pack will be available again. If you have any further questions or concerns, please reach back trough this message.

Even without the audio, this is an absolutely amazing kit for VR game development though. There are lots of useful effects, scenery elements, and powerups; some subset of these assets could be applicable to just about any kind of game; especially if you are in prototyping mode.
