[Gear VR / Oculus Go] Any optimizations or Vulkan, or ES 3.1 support coming to UE 4.19 / 4.20 ?
Since Oculus Go is about to be launched (assuming release time frame outlined in 2017 as "beginning of 2018" still stands) I am wondering if UE 4.19 (or 4.20) will get more optimizations / features enabled or get Vulkan (or ES 3.1) support for Gear VR and Oculus Go.
Thanks
Thanks

- Norman3DExpert ProtegeES 3.1 has always been supported! Daedalus is proof of that :)
- motorsepMemberES3.1 is supported to the point where UE4 runs on Gear VR with ES3.1. However, it doesn't seem to be optimized at all and is deferred (ES2 is forward from what I've heard).
Here are some points from Oculus themselves:

I am aware those are from 2016, but as far as I know nothing changed in UE4 regarding ES3.1 and Gear VR. - motorsepMember

Here is some information from our integrations team:
"On the mobile codepath, if you check in the ES3.1 box, you get the ES3.1 version of the mobile forward renderer. There is also the "ES3.1 mobile deferred" box which obviously is a deferred renderer that you shouldn't use."
The only option I see with "ES 3.1" in it is "Support Open GL ES3.1" as per https://docs.unrealengine.com/latest/INT/Platforms/Android/OpenGLES31MobileRenderer/index.html
I see there is "Support Open GL ES deferred shading", but I never checked that box and I still get horrible performance when "Support Open GL ES3.1" is enabled. So I am not sure whether that box is related to ES2.0 or ES 3.1 is simply that bad in UE4 when it comes to mobile VR. - KayattStart PartnerIs Unity optimized for ES 3.1 or Vulkan on GearVR?

I don't see how it relates to Oculus Go / Gear VR.. It's more about PC and Intel hardware. - motorsepMember@imperativity
I just saw in https://developer.oculus.com/blog/august-monthly-tech-updates-/ the following:
"Mobile SDK: The 1.16 release now exposes experimental Vulkan support for the Oculus Go..."
However no Vulkan is mentioned in UE4 Integration notes.
Do you happen to have info about when Vulkan for Go will make it into UE4 ?
Thanks beforehand - CykyriaExplorer
