Is it possible to change the monitor mirroring mode to single eye?

By default a packaged UE4 game seems to mirror both eyes views to the monitor full screen. Is there any way to change this, say to just showing a single eye view undistorted in a window for recording videos?

I did some googling and found mentions of 'HMD mirror mode' but a lot of the information seemed to be for much older runtimes. There's no obvious function in Blueprint to do this either.

  • Yes, use:

hmd mirror mode 0|1|2 Sets mirror window mode: 0 - standard stereo distorted view, 1 - stereo undistorted view, 2 - mono view (a single eye)

How can I do this using the Oculus SDK?

  • Those are console commands for UE4. You can set them in DefaultEngine.ini or use the Execute Console Command BP at runtime. See https://docs.unrealengine.com/latest/INT/Programming/Basics/ConfigurationFiles/

Thanks!  But doesn't the Oculus SDK have this capability built-in though?  I've gone through all of the headers carefully and read all of the online documentation and can't find it.  The only thing I can think of is this functionality might be enabled by calling ovr_SetInt(session, "mirror_mode_property?", mode)?  or something like that?

  • No, the mirror window is maintained by UE4, not the Oculus SDK.
