latency doubles with small HMD SP increase (Bug?)

Is anything wrong here with 0.4.3, this happens on every marketplace content I've tested. I notice the latency doubling in direct mode when I increase the HMD SP 130 to 140 only. (different sp number depending on the demo) Also occasionally the screen will get dark when I do this or it will get extremely blurry as if it were at HMD SP 50 or something (but it's not). This is only in direct mode I've noticed this, with rift in extended mode it's fine. This was just a stress test I was doing, I am able to maintain 75fps with HMD SP 100 and the latency in direct mode in general is fantastic.

This menu can be pulled up by typing 'stat scenerendering'

Also another side problem here is the framerate seems to cut in half from that small increase, you can see it in the top right corner if you click imgur links. Not sure what's going on there. Doesn't happen in extended mode.

  • Happened to catch me when I'm going out of town for the week. But I can give you the specs for now.

    5820K
    GTX 980
    16GB DDR4
Asus X99 deluxe (bios updated to newest)
    Windows 8.1 x64
    0.4.3 Runtime
    344.60 Nvidia Drivers
    Unreal Engine 4.5.1

I tried something that was posted on reddit/r/oculus that says to set "Virtual Reality pre-rendered frames" to "Use the 3D application setting" but it didn't seem to make any difference. I will post dxdiag when I get back next week.
  • This may be a known issue and possibly will be fixed with an upcoming release. Still post more details (i.e. DxDiag) and I will follow up to see if that helps debug this.

I have also noticed that going over HMD SP 100 causes an unexpectedly large performance hit on my GTX 760, no matter what else I turn off. Perhaps there is a driver issue when rendering to a target larger than the back buffer?
