Mexican Standoff with Meta submission

Hi,

I'm in a pickle. I have a submission error from Meta, saying the right menu button doesn't reset the forward view.

Except, when I try it, it consistently works. I've sent a video showing it working. Meta responded with "that's not from the build you sent". It was.

As far as I can tell, it's in-built behaviour as part of the meta branch of UE 5.5.1 I've built from source. I'm not processing the right menu button in any of my code. VRPawn is based on the VR Template.

Has anyone else come across this issue? I can't even debug it, as it works fine here.

Heylp!

  • Maybe? I've had testers and QA experience bugs from previous builds exhibit in current and corrected builds if they had installed previous build versions. "Zombie Data" can exist in a save file both locally and in the cloud. It tends to not affect the developers themselves because they are operating on a sideloaded build or a build that has no association to Meta profile that autosaves to the cloud.

I was able to reorientate myself with the Meta button with the right hand controller... However... when you select the Meta button on the left hand controller you get, what appears to be a placeholder menu UI with with three buttons. The top button is 'Reset Orientation'. This button is non-functional. Is there a possibility that QA is implying that this button is non-functional and misleading to players?

Ah good spot! Regardless, that button needs to go! It's a hangover from the standard UE VR Template.

I've got a new build in submission, built using the meta 5.5.3 source (previous was 5.5.1 source). I'll see how that fares, then enquire about the left hand button, see if that's what they mean.

        Thanks again 🙂
