Oculus didn't update the 'learning samples' to 4.24, a lot of stuff is deprecated...
Now instead of learning from it, (and making use of it) I have a week or more of just trying to get it working (a week is an eternity to a solo developer who works 18 hour day :o)
I'll just post an image. Help most welcome. I was trying to do the right thing and R.T.F.M but the F.M is not updated!
Thank you for any help!

- andrewtekMHCP MemberHi @Woody3D.
I am noticing the same thing. When I used to frequent these forums 3 or 4 years ago, we had Unreal and Oculus developers participating in conversations regularly. I am not sure what happened since then.
I can totally understand that Oculus is under a lot of pressure to push each new version of UE4 as quickly as possible when Epic releases new updates; but to take shortcuts on the sample projects so they don't build/work is frustrating.
Good luck with your project.
