SpeedTree won't import

Hi all,

I was just wondering if this is a bug in the current UDK but I can't seem to import a SpeedTree .srt file at all. Shouldn't it work or is there some new workflow now?

  • I suspect this is an Oculus build issue. The Oculus build also doesn't have Simplygon integration. Probably Oculus don't have those middlewares licensed and weren't able to compile a build that included them. The next official UDK release from Epic will presumably support both the Rift and those middlewares.
  • Ah, that may be the same reason that .biks aren't importing in this build (and potentially other 3rd party formats?)... Fingers crossed for that comprehensive Epic release.

yep...very frustrating you can transfer the mesh to UDK....and speed tree is a great program. 450 buckos....yikes.
at least UDK is working ok.....hmmm...have to look for some file converter program, that might help. tree(d) is more limited.

hmmm.....looks like an shifted data file.....even though its a mesh file...all they've done is encrypte it, or at least shifted the nodes....out of field of the original mesh. then again that's what I would do if did a custom mesh program....just tag you mesh as .blahblah....and all you did was shift the number forward or backwards a few notches.....making it unusable, until with a simple correction all is well.
  • Does anybody have any more recent information regarding the status of the licensing issue and whether or not Epic has plans for proper integration?
