UDK download is a bit confusing

I find the Oculus download page a bit confusing and not logical. It has one tab for 0.2 and one for 0.1. This gives an impression that the newest SDK can be downloaded from the 0.2 tab and older SDKs can be downloaded from the 0.1 tab.

It looks, however, that the 0.2 tab is the native Oculus SDK and the 0.1 tab is the UDK with Oculus support. If this is the case the tabs should be renamed to SDK and UDK to not make any confusion.

Also, the Oculus ready UDK seem to be from March if you follow the UDK version naming. And now there is a July UDK. Does the latest UDK from Epic support the Oculus or do I have to download the UDK from the Oculus download page to get it with Oculus support? If so, will this always be the case or will the UDK released from Epic include support for the Oculus in the future?

  • Thanks for mentioning the 1.0 thing too, I couldn't find the UDK at first.

I read and found out the Oculus Rift version of the UDK is different because they had to change certain core files of the UDK, also maybe something about using the oculus UDK not being free because of this.

I see people here are asking about an update hopefully that will be available soon, my UDK works but nothing is rendered in stereo, is that only going to happen when I have a rift connected, it hasn't shipped to me yet.

That UDK is like a dream come true, is that artwork thats included with the UDK also included for you to use? Like for example, can I use some of those models like those amazing rocks and trees from the foliagemap example? How does one make rocks that look that good, is that done with tools in the unreal engine?
