Unreal Engine 4.6 and SDK 0.43 : no improvement ?

Hello everyone !

I was testing the new preview build of UE4.6 with the SDK 0.43
My latency is still 13.3ms (Stat fps)
Didn't notice any change in Fps.

Am I missing something ?

In an empty scene ( default sky dome and floor ) my video card it's to it's knees past HMD SP 170...

(GTX 980, i7-4771)

That 13.3 ms is not your latency, it is how long the frame takes to render, and updating the SDK will not change it. An empty scene in a new project is pretty expensive to render, as almost all graphics options are on by default.
  • Mmm...
So thinking about latency, I am one of the very few to have a DK1 Latency tester.
I heard it's integrated into Dk2, but I have no idea how to access that data from UE4.

    Any idea ?

just open the console and type "stat fps". Latency is shown under fps

I don't believe that information is reported in UE4, but you should not need it anyway thanks to timewarp. As long as you maintain 75fps your latency will be negligible. Only people who are making serious engine code modifications (like integrating the oculus sdk yourself) need to worry about it.

'HMD Stats' should give you your latencys.
  • i've noticed no improvement at all so far. i still have to run my rift in extended mode, still have to turn all the graphics waaaaay down. best i can do is still hmd sp 110. i have 3gigs of gpu ram gtx780 overclocked. i get 75 fps usually but still 60 or so in some parts of my game. did they change anything? in the unreal blogpost about 4.6 they did not mention oculus at all and it was a huge post. ugh. might have to switch to unity for my next project :-(

how the hell are we going to do anything at 90FPS when the consumer version comes out?
