Quest 3 V81 link cable not working, another one

Hi 

Since the last V81 update, the cable link is not working. I tried everything, Turn public beta test on, reinstall the link app, factory reset on the Q3, update all drivers in my pc, update BIOS in my pc, update windows, new cable, several ubs c ports on my pc, and nothing works, absolutely nothing...

 

This is beyond frustrating, everyone once in a while pcvr is broken. I know it's not the end of the world, but people spend money on these things expecting them to work

I hope Meta is taking notes and fixes this bug asap

Any help/tips on how to solve this will be appreciated

    Hi Sentryuk​ 🙂

    Someone on reddit mentioned that he could solve his link issue by enablimg developer mode and turn on auto-link.🤷‍♀️

    I'm not saying this is the solution for you - I don't even know if it'll work😕 

    I just wanna let you....in case you want to try it.

     

    Believe me, I'm so glad that I don't have those link issues that so many people have to deal with.🙃

      Hi, I do have developer mode enabled, don’t recall seeing an auto-link option it in but will check. Thanks

        so checked - in developer settings and cannot see auto-link option, even checked the iphone app to see if it was in that as well.

    Yeah, sounds like a mismatch between software versions again — just like Sophie rain pointed out before, the V81 rollout seems to have caused inconsistencies that only a proper sync between headset and Link app can fix.

    So is this a software issue? I've gone as far as getting a replacement Q3 from Meta and the issue still persists. Tried multiple cables. Windows can see it connect as a device, but Quest Link cannot.

    Have you also enabled developer mode in the Horizon app? You'll need to create a developer account for this. Numerous instructions on how to do this can be found online.

    I got the latest non-ptc v81.1034 a few days ago on both my Q3/512Gb and QPro headsets plus meta-link pc update 81.0.0.930.254.  Both Link (official link cable connected to my MB usb3.2 gen2 type-c port) and Air Link (with recommended wifi6 5Ghz setup) are working perfectly.

    If you are having issues I don't think it's related to the latest v81 updates.  If you cannot troubleshoot this yourself then I suggest you contact meta support and include your log files (google how to do this).  Hopefully they can help you sort this out.  Good luck and best cheers.

      You replied something similar too me. Sorry but just cos it’s working for you doesn’t mean they have not introduced a bug. The classic being a regression in usb driver maybe affecting amd chipsets.  You also gave me the impression perhaps I didn’t know what I am doing, when actually I do. Given the shear number of people complaining perhaps I would suggest telling people to google it if you can’t work out why it’s not working is somewhat ill advised. Especially saying you don’t think it’s related to v81 update when experience tells me and others in here meta have broken it AGAIN !!

        Sentryuk I've just started using my pc, as I got a new one! I've been standalone only until recently and mine is working perfectly. I asked the people I know locally here and all have no issues at all with the cable link. I know some other people have problems but if it's a Meta bug we all would have the problem. It's not logical that such a bug will affect only some people. Maybe it's your problem with some settings on your computer. Maybe use the philosophy of Aristotle, "know thyself" but change it to "investigate thyself and thy computer settings." 😂 Don't disregard people who may know more than you like TomCgcmfc. It might well be your problem and you can't figure it out so you blame something else.

      I got the same v81.1034 headset update (non-ptc) on Oct 27.  Link is on same V81 as yours.  From that day,  I have not been able to launch the link through to the apps. When it gets to the app screens the screen splits horizontally and is incredibly laggy,,,nearly impossible to use controller to quit link.  I did the entire troubleshooting over the next 4 days...zero luck.  I am using a 3rd party powered cable.  I figured that I might as well get the Meta cable just to eliminate that...ordered it on Nov 1.  Shipping notice received Nov 2.  Started pcvr up again and it worked flawlessly.  On the 3rd party cable. The Meta cable is still travelling to me.  Both headset and link app are on the exactly same versions as before.  Unexplainable.  So...maybe just ordering the cable is the solution...lol.  I am now committed to upgrading my wifi with dedicated 6e+ router so that I have that option when the cable pcvr  does not work.

    Having the same problem I have a oculus 2 that I am using but the link cable won’t register being plugged into the usb slot

    I can connect myself but have no sound from my PC. It was fine two days ago.

    Yes - followed standard steps to reenable PC to Quest 3 connections, drivers, everything.

    As soon as I connect to PC the sound stops, I close connection sound returns to Quest Home.

      Are you in PTC in the Link App in Windows? I had this exact issue, turned it off, and now got sound back.

    Hello Rotiaranie​ :

    Can you confirm for me what is the full version of the build that you have installed on your Quest3?  You can find that information in Settings-> General-> Software Update.

    Also, please confirm the full version number of the Meta Quest Link app that you have on your PC.  You can find this information under Settings in the General tab.
