V81.1034 latest release now detecting usb 3 as usb2

So, having updated to 5131230.22000.520 on 29th Oct, I noticed performance was slow - noticable lag connecting over the link cable. Previous build was fine.

I then ran a usb test and it appears its now detecting my USB 3 connection as USB 2 and in the link software I know have an exclamation mark telling me to try USB 3. Its telling me my link speed is 340meg.

So i wonder if some regression has crept in the release and now we are missing USB 3 support. Note my pc is AMD chipset based. Nothing else has changed on PC.

Meta really do need to do a far better job of testing against pc's !!! its not the first time we've had major issues.

  • Same here!!! My link is completely broken. No matter what I do.
I've gone back and forth with meta support for 26 hours total and literally got nowhere.

I've reupdated, reinstalled, DDU-Clean installed my drivers, updated meta, tried PTB, tried everything and its still broken.

This is outrageous, a software which cost me over 300 bucks to buy should be working fine. It's literally a scam if it isn't.

  • tiirew Sentryuk  Both my Q3 and QPro updated to non-ptc v81.1034 and my meta link pc app to v81.0.0.930.254 2 days ago.  Both are working fine with both Air Link and Link.  My PC has an AMD cpu (9800x3d).  My official meta link cable connected to my motherboard usb3.2 gen2 type-c port continues to show usb3.

If you cannot sort this out yourself with a little google troubleshooting then I suggest you contact meta support including your log files (google how to do this).  Good luck mate and cheers.

  • Hello Sentryuk :

I'm sorry to hear that you have been experiencing degraded performance during link sessions and that the USB connection type is being improperly reported as USB2.0 instead of USB3.0.  If you can also provide the following information below that would be most helpful.

Your detailed input will greatly assist us in reproducing and addressing the problems. Please use the following format when sharing your feedback (copy paste and fill out if possible):

Hi manny.prerelease68 please find details as requested below.

      Description:

Metalink software (version 81.0.0.930.254) is now reporting usb3 ports as being usb2. Resulting in significant and instantly visible lag when connecting to desktop.

      Steps To Reproduce:
Be as specific as possible. The more detailed your steps, the easier it is for us to replicate the issue.

      1. Run the usb connection test in meta link app.
      2.

      Observed Results:
Visible lag and image degredation / delay between eyes when moving head (no mater how fast or slow)

      Expected Results:

      Normally this is extremely smooth.

USB - connections present (confirmed all working) -

I have run the logs gather but I won't share directly on here for obvious reasons.  That said i have reviewed already the windows event viewer and can't see any error messages that are related to usb.

However, please see below the perflog from last night - usb section, now i have compared this to the perflog prior to the latest q3 firmware and i can see no difference in output.

I've done a couple more tests, i bought a usb c to a adaptor just to check it wasn't the usb c port playing up - no difference still reports as usb2. I've checked the bios is all ok and nothing changed there - all enabled. I've upgraded the meta link app to the ptc as i saw a report in another complaint there was a usb driver issue and fix was to move to the ptc - so having done that the link app is 83.0.0.224.349 and that made no difference either - so now removed ptc.

  • It's working fine for me, haven't had any issues with QuestLink/AirLink whatsoever since I got my Q3 five months ago, no matter what software version. You might have a hardware or driver problem on your PC. Quest 3 v81.1034 (build 5131230.22000.520), Meta Quest Link v81.0.0.930.254 (both non-PTC), Windows 11 Home 24H2 (26100.6899), Intel i7-5820K, 32Gb, RTX 3080. I normally use an Orico actively-powered 7-port USB 3 hub (model H7013-U3). I don't think they are available any more.
