Meta horizon link v83 drop connection

Hi,

After updating MetaHorizon Link v83, the cable connection keeps dropping. Nothing I've tried has fixed it. This happens everywhere, not just in games.

  • Nice to see other people that has the same problem, I've already passed that one ...

    My steps :

1- Uninstall any Meta Horizon Link app
2- Go to the Program_Files folder ... Delete "Meta_Horizon" folder (If there is one) and "Program_Files/Oculus" folder
3- Go to "C:\Program_Data" folder (it's hidden by default) and delete "Oculus" folder
4- By DM I'll send you the link to download or search on Internet for the "oculus-meta-quest-1-0.exe" file. That was one of the first installers for Oculus Link. It's an small file (around 4mb) that create the correct folders for the installation by default (program_files/oculus) and not "program_files/meta_horizon". Also this will download the same 975mb from Meta for the Meta Horizon Link App, but will be installed correctly on the original Oculus folder.
5- At the end of this installation, will show a File Explorer ERROR, you just close that message and do nothing else,
6- After that execute the "Setup.exe" from the official Meta Horizon Link App DOWNLOAD.
SELECT  "REPAIR" ... There you will see again the downloading and installation process and will be also be done over the original Oculus folder
7- After that repair finished, NEXT .. and you are done.

After all this steps (followed very strictly, no changes). Everything will work as always, except for that bitrate problem bug, that you can't use above around 450 mbits on DebugTool, because it use the half of the fps, so everything looks stuttering. Using 400mbit or less it's all ok. I HOPE that META will fix this problem soon

    Cya!

Thank you so much for your detailed help. I followed everything you said to the letter. Unfortunately, it didn't work. I even tried deleting the files in Windows User AppData, but the result is the same. Changing the resolution, lowering the bitrate, nothing works. By the way, I use my VR headset for iRacing and Dirt Rally. I absolutely cannot participate in iRacing right now because the online races last 20-30 minutes. Unfortunately, I'm deprived of it. I'm still in contact with the Meta team. They are aware of the problem and have given me many settings, including Windows settings, but it hasn't worked. Yesterday, I tried an application called ALVR with a wired connection. There's no problem with that, but because it uses OpenVR, it doesn't give me the performance I want in iRacing. That's the current situation. Thank you again for your help.

I've been emailing MetaSupport about everything you've written, but I haven't received any results yet.

THE REAL PROBLEM IS THIS: PC VR USERS ARE RECEIVING ABSOLUTELY NO UPDATES. I've been using your devices since Quest 2 (currently Quest 3). The PC link menu hasn't seen a single change. For example, things like infinity room dark mode or hand tracking in infinity room. Not only have there been no feature or performance updates, but we're constantly dealing with stuttering and performance drops. Those used to be fixed through user effort and updates, but this time it's a huge problem because the connection keeps dropping. PLEASE FOCUS ON THE PC VR SECTION.

I've got the same issues. From what I can gather, the same problem has consistently affected some users since v76 (or even earlier). This makes developing using a Meta Quest practically impossible. The whole PCVR segment has always been a little buggy, but with enough patience, developing and playing games was still possible. However, these kinds of problems - especially when persisting for such a long period of time - are simply unacceptable.

If you find a temporary fix, I would genuinely appretiate it if you could let me and others know.

Other than that, I would discourage anyone from buying a Meta Quest if they intend to use PCVR in any way, shape, or form.
