I recently discovered that the key feature of my Portal Go has been discontinued. You can no longer utilize voice command via "Hey Portal" or "Alexa". This is honestly unacceptable for a device that cost as much as it did and didn't he l even have a 5 year life in my household. The Portal Go was literally advertised as a hands free device that allowed the user to use voice command for feature such as music playback, device control, calendar, video calling, etc. This might be a fun feature for some, but for others with mobility impairments (like myself) it was the whole point of the device. To essentially end of life a device for people who have just bought it at full price in the last few years is a slap in the face. At the very least, compensate your dedicated users in some way or expect that all these people will be turned away from purchasing your products in the future in fear that you'll pull the rug out from under them with no real product longevity. I don't mean to rant and I would rather have an acceptable resolution that's fitting for both parties. Please consider supporting your Portal Go users who actively continue to use this device.
Yep, same with my Portal device. It's made the product literal trash, which is where I'll be throwing it shortly. Horrible policy and terrible customer service around it. All support could do was direct me here to surely be ignored. Insane they were selling these devices just a few years ago and now removed a major advertised feature. I've purchased two Meta hardware devices in the past, but will never touch one again. They're giving very little consideration for the long-term effects of such bad policy. This should be a class action lawsuit, if anyone would take it up.
Used Portal for comms with 95 year old mom. Only hardware she could use due to infirmity and eyesight. Voice commands were essential to purchase choice. She used it in hospice and bedridden. Allowed her to call me when she needed something or was having trouble since we were at other ends of the house. By removing it, and the attitude of Meta makes me never buy anything from Suck again. Fat chance giving you another dime Suckerborg.
