These features and enhancements will become available starting the week of April 30, 2024 and will be pushed to Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2 headsets. Please note that you can find the most up to date release notes on our release notes article and you can check out our v65 blog as well for more details.
Panoramic photos and spatial video
If you have an iPhone on iOS 17 and later, you can now upload panoramic photos or spatial video to your Quest headset using the Meta Quest mobile app.
Passthrough improvements
You’ll now see your passthrough environment instead of the default gray background for some system menus and prompts when you’re using passthrough in your Horizon Home.
Mouse and keyboard improvements
When using a physical keyboard or mouse with your headset, you should now see fewer interruptions from hand tracking, including when these devices are connected to your headset via Bluetooth or when using Meta Quest Remote Display.
Local multiplayer and boundary recall with Meta Virtual Positioning System
Local multiplayer allows multiple VR devices to play in the same physical space in a common immersive environment, while improved boundary detection uses Meta server processing to improve the likelihood of recognizing previously established boundaries, reducing the chance that you will be prompted to re-draw your boundary as you move between physical spaces. This enhanced understanding of your immediate physical space is achieved by sending point cloud data from your device to Meta servers for processing. Learn more about Meta Virtual Positioning System and how to enable it from your privacy settings.
Travel mode (Quest 3 and Quest 2 only)
With travel mode on Meta Quest 3 and Quest 2 you can interact, work and play in MR while on an airplane and also access in-flight entertainment.
Once you enable travel mode fromExperimentalinSettings, you can turn it on or off anytime from theQuick settingspanel.
You may also see a message to turn on travel mode if you try to use your headset while on a plane. Learn more abouttravel mode.
Wow... I really hope, the WiFi problems (introduced with v64) are fixed with this release. AirLink and also media streaming were nearly useless for the last two weeks. Please, let come this update "over me" soon 🤣

Nice to see improvements happening in spans of just few weeks, thanks to the team behind them!
Passthrough has now been upgraded pretty decently just this year, and to think there could still be room for improvement...
So far, only updates and improvements to Meta Quest 3, making buyers happy and their purchase more worth while.
If there is something that could also be taken into the improvement que, it's the UI... already good but it is the single thing that if improved directly makes an impression on the user experience.
I have seen some "leaks" if you could call them like that, which make the Meta UI seem and look even more immersive and futuristic, just be redesigning windows, edges, some blur and effects... who knows, maybe we are closer to that then further.
I've had a really intense contact to the Meta Support. They've found a bad constellation in my wifi network, but the connection "disruption" persist. (now every 6 to 8 min, before much more often - no connection to the router, but to the extender)
There should be changes to wifi in v65 and maybe the issue was fixed, which was introduced in v64. (at least for me, because I didn't use AirLink that much in the three weeks with v63, if at all)
Please please don't become an Apple clone !!?? The whole idea behind Android based systems was the openness of the eco system! The new headline feature of Panoramic pictures is only for iPhone users (I don't own an iPhone!) Yes I understand the Apple headset has some very very nice features, but it's also backed up with a lot more expensive hardware and trying to make the Quest range like Apple will just end up looking like a cheap Chinese knock off!! Please come up with your own idea's or at the very least take a look in your own idea's forum as there are loads of great idea's that have just been ignored..!!!! (and yes if I had the money to burn i'd by Apple's headset! lol)
All of you who's complaining about scope storage, I don't understand why you all are complaining. I was able to use scope storage and mod. I was able to add a modded version of discord with no issues. So stop your harassment to Meta Horizon OS. And if scope storage really not fixed, Meta have all the rights to change the OS in any sorts of way. @meta Horizon OS you all are doing an amazing job on the tech and the future VR world, keep it up. And thanks for your help @Ryanality for your support.
So how does the spatial and panorama upload work? I have an iPhone 13 with iOS 17 and I still don't see an upload button in the gallery of the meta quest app.
Hi @MrComfort, welcome back to the community! It's great to see you here. 🙂 VR features really take your experience to the next level. You can find this on the Meta Quest mobile app. For more information on VR spatial photos, check out this link here. Please note, only iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max can shoot Spatial Videos.
Hi @TheeScientist , thank you, but I do not see any upload button on the gallery section of the mobile app, as mentioned above. App Version is 265 and Quest 3 software is v65. Seems like this is bugged.
Billions spent on development yet you continue to ignore the WIFI bug that makes this headset completely unusable for many of us. The Dropouts make this headset unusable for any kind of online completive play with airlink or virtual desktop.
You either need to test these updates PROPERLY or give us the option to opt out of the updates until they are confirmed by the community to NOT be broken.
@Velcrochicken1 The Q3 wifi disconnect issue introduced with v64 is a real pain. I found a fix 5 days ago by upgrading my 5yo wifi5 router with a new wifi6 router. Since doing this I haven’t a single disconnect; standalone, and wireless with Air Link or Virtual Desktop. Seems that the Q3 is happier with the wifi6 AX protocol. Hopefully this will remain fixed when I get the rollout of v65, probably in about a week’s time.
The plus side is that I’m now getting much better wireless results.
I'm having issues now with the blue circle on boundaries. I never had that issue before and basically as I never game but use the app for sitting and meditating, I find it annoying to see the blue circle while trying to meditate at a waterfall.
@MoonstoneWolf7 Maybe draw an over-sized boundary instead of making a stationary one. Also, it's very common for your guardian boundaries to change after updates. First thing I do after any update is remove my guardian history and build a new one.
Just did another update of the V65. Passthrough still horrible, videos are the same, slightly blurry and no ability to upload panorama from the app. I also just updated the app. Weird.
Don’t download v65 ptc. My quest 3 was jumping around. I couldn’t even submit a bug report as menu would just disappear and than come back again. Games were unplayable. I barely managed to reset it to v64 as it was so hard to press button when the whole menu was just disappearing all the time. And this all start happening completely random.
@SubPhaser Thanks for that mate. I now avoid PTC, unless it includes an important fix for something. You say you were able to reset back to v64? In the past few updates it hasn't been possible to properly rollback to the previous non-PTC version. Sounds like this is now possible?
Like other's I'm still waiting for non-PTC v65. No big hurry since v64 is currently working very well, esp. since updating my +5yo wifi5 router with a new wifi6 router (not 6e) last week. This alone has significantly improved my Q3 standalone and wireless PCVR with Air Link. I haven't had a wifi disconnect since doing this.
Hopefully people citing issues are on non-PTC v65. Otherwise they should be posting these on the v65 PTC thread imho. Also, it would be useful to include which Quest headset(s) and a v65 version number. Thanks mates and cheers.
Before I had issues with the ambient sound of the home environments in my quest pro for several months now. As of v65 I can't hear others talking in horizon worlds anymore and no ambient music, but I do hear the music in the worlds like iheartradio and in all of the venues concerts.
In the game "Tetris Effect: connected" I don't hear anything, no sounds, no music while this still works in other apps as beat saber. That's so weird.
I did lots of factory resets: it all works again at first but after a reboot, the issue reoccurs. All this is since PTC v62. I went out of PTC with a factory reset a while ago but it's not helping.
Quest 2: no such issues with v65, Quest 2 luckily never got PTC. Support does not respond on my initial problem with the ambient sounds, now it's just worse!
Ok so now I can no longer draw a boundary. Only option I have is to let Meta suggest a boundary, so I'm right back to lines and grids at a waterfall. These updates are making my headset virtually impossible. All I do is sit and watch movies or meditate. Why can't this thing be removed for those of us who don't stand up, walk around or whatever? I know I"m not the only one who asked that this be removed for when we sit.
I would really love some official dedicated Meta web sites with download links to Meta Horizon OS.
All the talk about latest features in firmware releases that are not available for download even weeks after launch, feels like missing out.
Firmware v64 was fast to arrive here in Croatia (EU) but v65 is still not available, like the v63 before v64.
New features are very interesting and I cannot wait to test them out, but checking firmware availability every day just to see that it's still not available is turning into a chore.
I am using a quest3 with v65 and I am trying to use wifi 6e. It seems that most apps and games do not detect the wifi connection and I need to go in to wireless settings and disconnect then reconnect to get things to run and connect as normal via wireless. I dont remember this happening with v64.
Ok, I just got v65 a few hours ago on my Q3 (version 65.0.0.540.341), QPro (version 65.0.0.557.341), and meta link pc app (version 65.0.0.499.343).
Tested out with a few standalone and PCVR with Meta Link store and SteamVR apps using Air Link and Link. All seems to be working fine so far. This is with my i913900k/rtx4090/32Gb 6400ram/z790mb with wifi6 router ethernet wired to my PC and dedicated 5Ghz/80mhz channel (ch36 in my case).
I can't say I notice any significant diferences but the Quest home environment seems a little snappier and the transition into Air Link and Link also seems a little faster/smoother. Also, since recently (~2-3 weeks ago) updating my 5yo wifi5 router to a new wifi6 (not 6e) router I've yet to experience any wifi disconnects, standalone or PCVR.
Also got the update to v65 for my Quest3, but the problem persist... after 6min connection lost. With Quest 2 there are no such problems, tested with v64 and after update with v65! So this problem I'm encounter ist specific to Quest 3 and doesn't affect Quest 2.
Quest 2: 65.0.0.547.341
Quest 3: 65.0.0.546.341 (different to @TomCgcmfc ?)
Yes, FritzBox 6591 (non-Vodafone!), 5GHz, Quest3 alone... and yes there is a mesh connected repeater.
Problems came up with firmware v63 or v64, before there was no problem at all. (last update of the router itself was in 09/2023 to firmware 7.57)
So technically AirLink is broken and unuseable anymore.
Test scenario is always the same: connect with AirLink and play through VenVR.
with Quest2 played a whole level (about 15min) and no connection lost.
with Quest3 played about 6min and stop - connection killed.
So it's a specific problem Q3 and newer firmwares.
Another remark: after updating to v65 there will be an "perform update before shutdown"
with Quest 2 it takes very long (about 5 to 10min) an it's done
with Quest 3 it takes also long (about 3 to 5min) and after power on it comes again (didn't last as long, about 20sec, but again and again and...)
The last point could be a hint, that there is something wrong with the firmware of Quest 3. All points mentioned here are reproducable. So where is the problem to fix this?
Obviosly this is a specific problem between Quest 3 and "older" but very common (AC WiFi) AVM Fritz!Box's .
@TomCgcmfc Buying a newer AX router (2-year "old" 6690 in my case) for around 260€ to fix a problem caused by firmware? That's a bit drastic and I lose the german specific S0-Connector...
@Buetigame Ya wifi5 AU protocol only seems to be a problem with the Q3. Upgrading my +5yo wifi5 router also cost me a pretty penny. I needed to upgrade my isp home router so I didn't lose my home phone lines. This cost me au$280 (payable over 24mo, interest-free). What I can tell you is that in my case it was worth it because it seems to have improved my wireless performance on all my Quest headsets (Q2/3/Pro).
Even before v64 I was getting some wireless problems (standalone and PCVR) with my Q3 and this started to get a lot worse with v64. The Virtual Desktop developer (G.Goddin) flagged this problem +5 months ago and recommended that Q3 users go to a wifi6 AX router.
I don't know if your local internet provider can supply a wifi6 router like mine could or not. I guess your other option would be to buy a dedicated wifi6 router and use that. External wifi6 routers can be bought for less than ~$100. Then see if you can connect into your existing network for internet access sharing.
I kinda don't think that Q3 wifi5 AU problems are going to be fixed very quickly, if at all. I hope for your sake it get sorted out soon, and/or Meta can maybe offer something like their D-Link Air Bridge option at a discount (now available from Amazon for ~$80). In the meantime, I feel your pain mate. Cheers.
I would not use it a lot, but the ability to upload panoramic photos is non-existent for me. I wanted to test it out to see, and all I can do is upload the spatial videos. I'm sure there will be some people who will want to use that feature though.
the most recent update broke my link cable connection ive tried everything to troubleshoot was working fine before the update never had problems now im getting grainy imagine with trails when ever i use my link cable
Strange thing is... if you're priorizing the Internet for Q3 with the Router, the connection disruption goes down. So it was possible for the first time since v64 (maybe also began with v63) to play with AirLink for a whopping 40min!
The "Air Bridge" of D-Link is really bad, especial if you would have internet access for connected devices. A really pain in the ass configuration and worst driver/app support ever 😞
What router did you use before and now? Were these also FritzBoxes? Didn't think so...
@Buetigame I upgraded my isp supplied Telstra smart modem 2 wifi5 with a smart modem 3 wifi6. This is costing me au$12/mo over the next 24 months (au$288 total). Given how much I already spend on PCVR this is a drop in the bucket, for me anyway.
I did look at the wifi6 Fritz!Box 7590 AX and 7530 AX routers and I think either of these would have worked ok since they both have home phone connections. However, since I don’t need a mesh network, and both were a bit more expensive (plus needed to be bought outright) I decided to stick with my local isp option. This was pretty well plug and play plus I get good support and a warranty.
Anyway, up to you to decide what’s best. Good luck mate and cheers.
@TomCgcmfc I own a Fritz!Box 7590 AX and I have the same wifi interruptions on the newest v65 Quest 3 firmware and FRITZ!OS: 7.80. Meta Support knows about the issue related to the Fritz!Box routers.
@RobbenB Thanks mate. Glad I didn’t buy one, lol! Hopefully between Meta and the router maker this will get sorted out soon. I recall there were early issues with some TP-Link routers that needed a new router firmware to fix. You’d think that all WiFi6 AX devices would be standardized, but I guess not.
@TomCgcmfc I've solved my problem... with no investment 😉
Last year I exchanged the prevoius AP (Fritz!Repeater 1750E) with a newer one (Fritz!Repeater 1200AX), in hope to get a better mesh steering... but that wasn't the case - but I kept it for "newer is better". As you've stated, a native Wifi6 AX Router would be better, I came to the idea to change things back - done so: 6591 Cable Router + 1750E AP meshed, and wired (!) connected 1200AX AP.
And now? Just a PERFECT connection to the Quest 3 and even the AP is portable! (minimal latencies with virtual desktop and no "hickups" with both)
Problem solved... forever... hopefully 😎 Thx mate!
Even the pretty old TV (red x'd world) connects again, which wouldn't against WiFi 6 AP - great!
Why hasn't travel mode been added to the Quest Pro ??? Your most expensive headset lacks a basic feature that your cheapest headset now has ??? Or has all development for the Quest Pro now finally stopped and it's just bug fixes ? The Quest Pro controllers get more updates than the headset does!!??!!
@pantainn What issues do you have with v65? I don't seem to have any major issues with either my Q3 or QPro. Maybe list your issues and in any case, please file bug reports. Thanks mate.
@Moriarti4 I doubt I'd want to use my QPro for travel anyway. It's a bit too bulky and the controllers would be a pain to keep charged vs the very long life I get with my Q3 controllers (+2 months with AA Duracell).
I'm planning an OS trip soon (with a 14hr flight, lol!) and I'll probably pack my Q3 with stock strap, plus a couple of external battery 10000mahr 30w packs and a couple Duracell AA's. Hopefully this will make my flight a little more bearable, lol!
Sorry, but I have noticed something odd since updating to this. It feels as if the image alignment is no longer center, at least in the left side display. This is a new thing as I hadn’t been in my quest for weeks since late March/early April, and this was never an issue until now after updating to this. In games it feels like I’m slightly turned to the right, and if I have the aim reticle turned on, it looks like it’s pulled to the left slightly instead of being dead center in my vision.
@TomCgcmfc: I've posted my issues here already sunday 12 may, scroll back a little, you'll see. In discord I finally saw more people mentioning the (partial) lack of audio in certain apps as horizon worlds. It's in pro only since v65. Today I've discovered a link with the headphones plug in's. When not using headphones and restarting the pro, all sound issues are gone including home environment background sounds being back...till I use headphones again, then it's gone again. Restarting the headset with no headphones and all is back to normal. Not all apps are affected by this.
Hey there, @zainuluk! We definitely want for you to be able to use your headset with a link for PCVR! We can take a look into this if you can reach out over a PM. I have had the problem of wifi showing connected but games will not start because they cannot connect to their servers. I have found that if I go back to the Oculus menu then disconnect the wifi and immediately re-connect and restarting the game works. Hope this helps.
Update to v65 a few days ago. Phone notifications finally removed. Still no Lakeside Peak environment. Still no MTP notifications when connecting link cable to PC.
I have been having trouble with version 65 and secondary accounts. When I add a secondary account to one of my Quest 3s and install applications, many will not start that are installed on both primary and secondary accounts. Doesn't seem to matter whether using app sharing or using separate account with purchased apps as secondary. I have tried factory resetting.
With the V65 update, I am no longer able to access my DLNA server (Synology NAS). Please solve the connection problems urgently. I am also affected by the connection problems (WIFI - FritzBox router). And now there are also the general problems with DLNA....
