Thanks everyone for all your feedback on our previous builds, several bugs were identified in PTC v60 and the solutions for some have shipped, while others are on the way!
The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Quest v62 is starting to roll out soon for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, and Meta Quest 3.
If you're seeing an issue or bug after updating to PTC v62 jump on over to ourGet Helpboard and search for any existing thread, if you don't find one, make a new thread. Please add the tag "PTC v62" to the thread and in the title. This way everyone can look for just PTC v62 issuestoo.
It's best if you can post each bug you spot in its own thread, to keep track of individual issues separately.
Share your impressions and let us know if you see any issues. Please make sure to also send in bug reports along with posting on the forums if you notice anything going wrong.
We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!
I still don't seem to be able to enroll in PTC with my Q3, and never have been able to do so. On my phone app I always get the message that it's full. Anyway, I look forward to hearing users experiences with PTC v62.
i was able to get into the PTC on the quest 3, then i did a factory reset, have not been able to get back in. like why not? i mean you guys need more testers, not less.
I have the same issue. The PTC has always shown as "full" for me in the Oculus app when I try to add my Quest 3. Was in the PTC on my old Quest 2 and would like to do the same with the 3 if possible.
which one? Apple lets you beta their stuff, Windows - they say sure why not? Meta, only 50 people and you dont even know if the 50 will really test what you need.
I say if the user opts in, its on them. As far as bricking headsets, why is so touchy you could brick it?
@smartass1379 i was not getting defensive, was asking which ones limit you to only a few? i know games limit open beta testing to pre order people, but what OS would limit you?
@jdawg46.1976 I don't know of any OS that limits Beta's, that's why the limit is absurd. I wish I could Tag ZUCK and BOSWORTH... and yes I completely agree that their releases have been buggy as heck. They need to allow anyone who wants to test in PTC and they need to fix how updates rollout... Staggered rollouts are fine if they were released in a timely manner but the fact that an official firmware is "released" and it takes 2-3 weeks for you to get it on your headset is laughable.
I also agree that these PTC's should be open for all to try BUT, only if Meta allows for a much better rollback procedure. Currently you basically need to do a factory reset to rollback, and even then it doesn't always take you all the way back to the previous stable final version. This process needs a lot more work imho.
they dont put out change logs, till its ready for release. maybe that is normal, but i think its because they dont even know what will be in the final version till they figure out all the **bleep** they broke
This more like a blind beta test! never have been any change logs we have mentioned this for the last 2 years and never get a response as to why not ??! The only people that seem to know are the testers on you tube, so you'll have to wait until there is v62 on you tube and there you might have an idea..!
I can't seem to exit the PTC. I didn't even opt in to it, and it was forced upon me. It seems that a previous PTC I was enrolled in auto-enrolled me in this one, even though I had turned it off.
I cannot seem to rollback either, and Steam Link is broken this release. What the F—, Meta?
Hey everyone, there's a fix coming soon (it's in Steam's PublicBeta) for the Steam Link issue. And they'll be opening up the PTC for Quest 3 again shortly.
I had gotten into PTC but when I had rebooted my headset I was unable to download apps from the Meta store. I factory resetted several times and I am unable to download or install games.
Update, it would seem the universe was waiting until I publicly ate my words, I swear I was at this for hours trying to make it work. It is downloading now. And while my download speed seems slower than before PTC, everything is working.
Hi @Ryanality I've been trying daily but been unable to join the PTC on my Quest 2s since about November. Is there any update on how I can get a device in, or if the amount of devices allowed can be expanded? It seems like there are a lot of users here eager to test out the new firmware!
The USB debugging prompt does not appear when the headset is plugged into the computer. In fact, you have to click on the Meta logo button to make it appear.
Personally, I've noticed major quality problems when recording a live mixed reality video from my Quest 3. Video recorded on January 25 on Quest 3.
I'm also unable to launch Citra, the new free Nintendo 3DS console emulator.
But perhaps most importantly, where are the new features and improvements in the V62?
The good news 26 January
Steam Link is working again
Quest Game Optimizer (QGO) is up and running
Applications can be downloaded from the store directly into the headset.
Ambient home sounds are back (although I'm not a big fan).
Since v62 (quest 3) I keep getting a warning that there is moisture or debris in my charging port and it will no longer charge. My port is fine, my cable is fine, my charger is fine. I charge while playing. Going back to v60 until they get that straightened out or give us a way to disable it. Sorry if someone has already mentioned this. No way to search within the thread... Disregard. It was a USB-c extension cable that I forgot we in the chain.😛 Re-edit: It IS v62. Happened again with another cable. Anytime there is any kind of extension cable it throws up this warning. Good thing is it that you can click "OK" and will continue to charge but it's irritating especially in the middle of a PC VR session. How do I disable this warning?
Yes, I have noticed if I watch the 6e connection speed for a few seconds it unused to fluctuate quite a lot, now it seems stable and invariably the TX and RX values are the same.
I agree with add all the posts about release notes... There should be a place for PTC'ers to go, where they can see what's changed, fixed, added, removed, etc.
v62 has a big problem with USB port sensor (found the very same issue on my Q3 and the one of my wife)... when used with an extension cable (even if it is a quality cable) from time to time star showing the debris-water warning message. Of course there is no debris or water, just a nasty software false alarm.
@Star.Knight I had that happening just about every week when I first got the headset and it seemed to be related to an external battery no longer having charge. Initially I thought it was the port or the cable, but then it seemed to only pop up when there was no longer an external charge source. Not sure why, but recently it hasn't happened as often even when the external battery is at 0%. I am not on v62 yet, but wondering if that is the case for yours too...
I can confirm that the water and debri warning has something to do with a powerbank going empty but i dont have V62, i have V60 and i have this message, so its not related to that. I use external Powerbank all the time with the quest 3, have it in my pocket. For me its much better than headtrap with build in battery because those use often cheaper powerbanks with less capacity. Its just better to have a 20.000 mAh Powerbank, i have a lot of them. There is a reason Apple decided for an external powerbank and no internal power.
No need to test so much new stuff, you should focues on firstly fixing the bugs and wrong UI we have been reporting for years. There's a lot of little bugs and UI changes that can be made in an hour and have been unresolved for years. I can't take seriously any petition to report new problems when those from years appart haven't even beer adressed.
@LuvinLife no, both I and my wife don't use an external battery but the original power adapter always plugged in and a 3 meters high-quality USB cable. Before updating to v62 PTC we never had any issue... starting with v62 we both have that nasty warning message from time to time.
@Star.Knight Erg, I really hope that isn't the case when they push it out to the rest of us. I haven't been getting that message regularly for a while. Thought they had fixed it.
