The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Quest v72 is starting to roll out soon for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S.
If you're seeing an issue or bug after updating to PTC v72:
1) For issues: Go to our Get Help board and search for any existing thread on the issue, if you don't find one, make a new thread. Please add the tag "PTC v72" to the thread and in the title. This way everyone can look for just PTC v72 issues too. 2) For bugs: If you come across a bug, please post each one you spot in its own thread, to keep track of individual issues separately. Share your impressions in the comments below and let us know if you see any issues. Please make sure to also send in bug reports along with posting on the forums if you notice anything going wrong. We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!
@Origami4gamin_TTV , i was on PTC v72, turned PTC off and downgraded to v71
automatically. Now i am missing the Remote Desktop on the Quick settings too but the most weird is that i am also missing casting to desktop and the cast button on meta quest link app on pc.
@Origami4gamin_TTV , hopefully they will sort these problems down on the next release. Casting to desktop directly is a huge improvement over web casting and its a feature i used a lot. Tried factory reset again, reconnecting everything, repairing meta quest link app, restarting router etc. Guess its gone for now.
@Zecole if you factory reset when your on PTC, it will not downgrade to the previous version. The toggle for PTC needs to be turned off first in the Meta Horizon app and check at software update in the headset, or go out of setting and go back in, to refresh. Or if factory reset was done first, toggle back on and back off for the PTC in the Meta Horizon app and check the headset software update. It should popped up forV71
Looks like system menu went back to the original box'y menu again from the double window pane look. Was just getting use to it too. Not really sure what else changed.
Anyone else notice that video recording is not picking up the mic audio unless you click record video in camera app and select record mic audio and only that time you have to click it everytime and only in camera app.
@PenguinInChicago video recording will asked permission on the mic if the headset got factory reset, or a brand new headset. And after approving the mic to be used it will stay on forever, unless another factory reset happens.
I got non-PTC v72 today on both my QPro (507mb) and Q3 (363mb); version v72.0.0.530.347. My meta-link pc app is still on version v71.0.0.451.524.
All looks and works pretty well the same with my QPro.
My Q3 is a different story though. I now have the new universal menu with things split up all over the place. I'm sure I'll get used to it but I really don't see the point in changing from the previous menus. Also, when I press/hold the power button to get into the power off options all I get is a grey void with some black dots along the bottom. The only way I can currently power off is to press and hold the power button until I get a power off chime. I have filed a bug report on this.
Tested both out with a few standalone and PCVR apps (Link and Air Link) including msfs2020 and a few SteamVR apps and all seemed to work fine.
Again, I'm not enrolled in any PTC nor do I have auto updates enabled. So, when I checked for updates I did have a choice to update now or later.
Kinda disappointing that there isn't a final release v72 thread with release notes yet. We never even got this with v71, lol! Cheers.
On my Q3 new menu/update there now is an option to update and save backups before power shutdown. So maybe that's what meta wants us to select and then just use the power button to turn it off. I found I could enter/exit sleep mode by short pressing the power button, as before. Under the menu/power there is a restart button but when I tried that I couldn't select anything with my Q3 controllers after it restarted. The light shaft from them shoed up fine, I just couldn't select anything. So I then needed to do a full power down and power up again.
Again, funny that my QPro with the very same update version doesn't do all that, thankfully, lol! So far, I'm not a big fan of v72 with my Q3.
thing that really urks me is this is a brand new Quest 3, but also im urked by finding out my debit card got removed by my bank without any explanation so they will need to send me a new one or ill have to go venture out in the cold to the bank today 😞
Question - many months ago a "hide" feature was announced, and (assumedly) released that allowed you to get apps that you don't plan on using anymore out of your app list. Being a long time Oculus/Meta VR enthusiast, I try just about everything I can from the store and would LOVE to use this feature to remove all the old junk from my library.
It's been so long since the feature was announced, that I'm confident it must be generally available by now, and that there's something account related that's keeping me from having access to it. Hell - even the test users I created on my Meta developer's page for multiplayer testing have it: if I log into their account on my Quest Pro and Quest 3 it's there, but when I switch back to my account it's gone. I reached out to support, but I found their responses (to put it politely) ... lacking - they don't even understand what I'm asking after 4 back-and-forth's.
I'd love to get a feel for how many of you see the "hide" option in the three-dot menu for each app in your library, and how many DON'T see it.
@JeffNik I think the hide app and remove apps from library will be gone in future updates. Sounds to me they are replacing it with Smart Storage idea. After a certain amount of days it will delete from the library. But able to install again from the store
That would work for me - as long as 1) I can archive on demand, 2) have a list of archived titles available. Thanks for letting me know about that possibility.
@JeffNik I've had the Hide option on both my Q3 and QPro for quite some time and it is still there with the latest V72 non-PTC updates I got yesterday. Sorry, I'm not sure why you don't have this?
I'm not even sure why even though both headsets are on the same version of V72 (version v72.0.0.530.347) the new (busy) UI only shows up on my Q3, not my QPro. Maybe a rollout thing, but who knows since we get very little, if any, update details from mods on this user forum anymore. Kinda disappointing imho.
Edit; I don't use the cloud save option and I don't know if that has anything to do with your Hide option not showing up. Maybe disable this and clear your cloud saves. Probably a long shot but I thought I'd mention this just in case cloud saves may effect the Hide option. Cheers.
@JeffNik@TomCgcmfc Hide options still existed on my headset, had removed apps from library option for a limited time and went back to hide options. It's kinda sad to see it go on the removed apps from library option
Edit; I don't use the cloud save option and I don't know if that has anything to do with your Hide option not showing up.
I don't think so, I have cloud saving enabled and had the "Hide" option for a while... it's gone, I don't have it anymore. But I do have the "Remove from Library" option now. I'm still using v71 and never had the "Remove" option before.
Can we get mobile vr station standalone modding back? Can we also allow the quest 3s to have 60hz support because it does not make sense that it has the same screens and lenses as the quest 2 that can do 60hz perfectly fine. #60hz
@origami4gaming_ttv its in the screen recording i have a problem, i record content and i normally use video recording through my controller to do it. its my voice not app sounds i can not get
Although I have non-PTC v72 on both my Q3 and QPro I still have v71 on my meta-link pc app. I tried updating this to beta v72.0.0.500.353 but this dd not make any differences as far as I can see, so I just reverted back to non-beta v71.0.0.451.524 and all still works well.
I have noticed that the Oculus Tray Tool website is no longer in operation (google oculus tray tool download). ttps://apollyonvr.com
This is a real pity imho since I used this free app for +6yrs, starting with my Rift cv1. My current version 0.87.8.0 still seems to work fine. I use it to help finetune games/sims SS and ASW setting, plus turn on/off oculus runtime because I also still use a native SteamVR Vive Pro1.
I think there may be an older version available here, but I don't know if it works or not, and it seems to be an older version;
