The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Quest v76 started to roll out today for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S.
If you're seeing an issue or bug after updating to PTC v76:
1) For issues: Go to our Get Help board and search for any existing thread on the issue, if you don't find one, make a new thread. Please add the tag "PTC v76" to the thread and in the title. This way everyone can look for just PTC v76 issues too. 2) For bugs: If you come across a bug, please post each one you spot in its own thread, to keep track of individual issues separately. Please make sure to also send in bug reports along with posting on the forums if you notice anything going wrong. Share your impressions in the comments below and let us know if you see any issues. We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!
Updated to v76.1025, sideloaded the update and went through all the channels to make sure it was a clean install both on the headset and PC. Before v74, my headset was working without issue. After updating directly to v76, the PCVR connectivity with the cable link became unstable. Even after the v76.1025 small update, the issue persists unfortunately. It was overnight that my headset connection went from being perfect to being unplayable. There are many others on the reddit forums who have similar issues and may not know to come here to post their concerns or bug report.
Except for the bitrate limiting stuff up (Link and Air Link) with my +2.5yo QPro (not any problems with my Q3 btw), my non-ptc v76 continues to work fine with my +2.5yo PC (i13900k/rtx4090) using the official link cable connected to my z790mb usb3.2 gen2 type-c port or Air Link with my wifi6 router ethernet connected with dedicated 5Ghz (ch36/80mhz).
However, a few days ago I did see a Link startup problem (3x dots only) with my buddy's Q2/Q3 with his bit older intel 10th gen/rtx2080s win10 PC. No problem with his bit newer i9 9900k/rtx3090 win11 PC though. He's going to take his older PC to his PC repair shop to see if they can update it to win11, update his bios, and add a larger ssd drive. Maybe this will help, who knows??? Like me, he's also done a Meta home bug reports on all this, as should all of you imho.
I also noticed that both of his headsets on non-ptc v76 have the new colorful Link startup screen and a bit different home panel layout compared to my current Q3/QPro non-ptc v76. So, I'm not really sure what the heck is going on here??? Hopefully all this will get sorted out by the time we all get non-ptc v78, lol! Cheers.
I've added to my prior post in the other thread: "No version number change, stayed at 76.0.0.452.315... but for now, (Air-)Link is not usable anymore. Good, that there is SteamLink, which works... much more stable than I thought."
Short download, immediate restart of the desktop app and (Air-)Link was broken. Of course, I've done a bug report, but there is no response, no information like "we're working on" or such.
Didn't know, what's up with them, but Meta seems to go, where nVidia already is 😞
To the people having problems with Meta Quest Link taking a while to open and then not being able to use both Link and Airlink, here is a nice workaround that may work for you, as it does for me :
On a fresh boot, just simply go to Task manager and close all processes having to do with Meta or Oculus services. Then start Meta Quest Link and watch it work again as normal.
This must be repeated after each reboot, but it's way faster than doing the whole repair routine that also worked.
