These features and enhancements will become available starting the week of January 17th, 2022.

App Library

  • Oculus first party apps are no longer pinned to the top of your App Library. Instead, you can control the order of your apps through your App Library’s sort + filter settings.

Link Sharpening+

  • If it looks like your view in VR with Link is a little bit clearer, you’re right. We’ve improved the Link Sharpening algorithm for better visual clarity.

Stationary Guardian

  • Stationary Guardian now uses Passthrough. When you move toward the edge of your Stationary Guardian, you won’t see the boundary outlines. Instead, Passthrough will fade in to show your real-life surroundings.

Horizon Home

  • To help you explore your Horizon Home, you can now teleport to different designated areas in your Home environment.
    • Simply hide the Universal Menu by pressing the Oculus button, and press your controller thumbstick forward to see a set of potential hotspots. Then aim at one of the hotspots and release the thumbstick to teleport.
    • With the Universal Menu hidden, you can also press the thumbstick left or right to rotate in place.

Diagonal Resize

  • To better control your VR workspace, you can now resize your app windows to different heights and widths. Initially, this will be supported in Browser, Oculus TV, and Files as well as some 2D multitasking apps currently available on Quest.

Display Bar

  • To provide more flexibility in how 2D apps are displayed, you can now change the distance, scale, and rotation of your 2D app panels by using the Display Bar to switch between Tablet and Desktop modes.
    • To switch between panel types select and hold the Display Bar under the center panel, then drag the bar up or down.
    • We’re also making Browser tabs a bit smarter as part of this update. When you move between Desktop and Tablet modes, your Browser tabs will now consolidate into a single window to help keep your workspace neat and organized.

Tracked Keyboard Selection

  • In v28, we made it possible to not just pair but see Logitech’s K830 keyboard in VR. Now we’re also adding support for the Apple Magic Keyboard on Quest 2.
  • You can pair your Apple Magic Keyboard with your headset under the Experimental Features panel in Settings. You’ll also need to enable hand tracking (if you haven’t already) which can be done under the Hands and Controllers settings menu.

Share to Headset

  • If you’ve ever been browsing a made-for-VR art gallery on your phone and wished for a more immersive experience, we have you covered. In our latest sharing enhancement you’ll now be able to send a link directly from your phone to your Quest via the Oculus App, making that 3D view actually feel like you’re there.
    • To do this, first make sure your headset is turned on and Bluetooth is enabled on your phone. Then, open a website on your phone, click Share, choose the Oculus App → Open Now, select your headset, and it’ll automatically open in Browser when you put your headset on.
      • Please note: Currently this is only available on Android but will be coming to iOS soon.

Improved Quick Actions Menu

  • Accomplish the basics quicker without needing controllers. You can now use a pinch gesture with your hands to bring up a quick action menu. This allows you to quickly do things like take a screenshot, activate voice commands and more.
    • To bring up the quick action menu, position your palm in front of your face and pinch with your thumb and index finger.

Redesigned Explore Page

  • We’ve redesigned your Explore page to make it easier to find the experiences that you care about. To do this, we’ve made the following updates:
    • Adding cards that make it easier to find your friends.
    • Updating sections so you can discover the games, apps, and content that you care about.

Controller Settings

  • We’re adding the ability to adjust your Touch controller settings not only to give power users more options, but also to improve accessibility and address issues that may arise with wear and tear.
    • The most recent setting addition for v37 is the ability to adjust the thumbstick center dead zone, as well as the thumbstick range. You can make these adjustments from the Experimental Settings section within the settings panel.

@sandrenso  You really should have stuck with win10 and sorted out your problems then and there.  You probably should have reinstalled the Oculus desktop app and updated your nvidia driver and win10 updates.  My Q2/rtx3090 is flawless with Air Link (ethernet wired to my 1gig router and dedicated 5Ghz wifi) and so it is for most imho.  Of course you can always find complaints but this does not mean it's widespread or you would see a lot more of these.  Also, don't assume the same fixes will work for everyone since there are sooo many different PC systems out there and sooo many people who don't have a good working knowledge of their PC's to begin with.  PCVR isn't plug-and-play so it takes time and effort to get the best results.

Going back to win11 was a big mistake and you're unlikely to sort out anything until Oculus and Steam both officially support win11.  If you are not prepared to put in the effort to sort out your issues with win10 then maybe you are best to just enjoy your Q2's standalone mobile VR.

The problem I mentioned in  my original post many people have that also run on Windows 10 after the newest update so it isn´t a isolated case. I believe it´s best if the Oculus team can look into these issues so they can be fixed. It can be related to that I'm using the motherboard: B550 Rog Strix Wifi or AMD 5900X. Just because it works flawlessly for you doesn´t mean it works for everybody else. Every program I have and game works flawlessly on my system even after updating to Windows 11. I also use my Pimax 8K for VR and it works flawlessly with no issues or stutters at all. So the problem isn´t with Steam VR. It is just when using Quest 2 with Air Link I get these problems.
I think the Oculus team can fix the issue that is why I'm mentioning it here.

Hey sandrenso, We understand you are reporting an issue with using your Air Link with your Quest 2. We know it's important to be able to use your tools and accessories, so we wanted to look into this for you!

Air Link is not compatible with Windows 11 as we do not support it currently. We did see you were able to test a downgrade to Windows 10 and are still having that issue. If you are able to test that downgrade again, we recommend doing so and creating a support ticket so we can deep dive into this for you. Our team is more than happy to look into any possible troubleshooting options for you, but we do need it on a compatible operating system to do so. We look forward to hearing from you and working with you on a resolution!

Need a progress report of patch. Blurring & ghosting aren't solved. And I see many users are getting problem on Link after v37 (Link always has problem for many users 😩 but much more now).

TBH, I sympathize with the support team. If software engineers make decent software or if Meta had built a good update system with users in mind, you guys wouldn't have any trouble. No matter when or where we look, we'll find countless similar problems. It hasn't changed over the years. 😫

I would like to know this too. The oculus is already covered in dust, waiting for the right patch.

Link Sharpening became sharper again.

When I install v37.0.0.135, I felt sharper Link Sharpening. But after v37.0.0.147, it became a bit blurry (like v35?). Now, completely same version, but becomes sharper again. I can't understand at all. I think Link Shapening getting random bug same as CA or ghosting.

Hopefully we see support for Windows 11 becoming a priority for Airlink since a lot of gamers are getting new systems because of the difficulties to find stand alone GPU. It’s easier to get them on a prebuilt system and a number of those have Windows 11 pre-installed. I understand that development has been focused on Windows 10 but I feel Windows 11 will over this year grow in a user base to be important to have official support.

Hey Ashman! We're glad you're excited about these new updates. For now, Windows 11 is not supported to run Oculus Link or Air Link. To enjoy Oculus Link with no issues, please use the latest version of Windows 10. Stay tuned on our social media and blog pages for updates on Windows 11 support.

Hello!

When will you be able to see the announced features installed in version 37? Because I've tried to see if it works to move in the home with the hot spots but they don't appear yet (and also all the other functions don't appear).

Just remembered own tickets to support, and there is maaaany text:
1. Regarding request 2738655 (if you have access ofc you can review it manually), but shortly, Quest 2 is messing with colors system-widely and it's still not fixed at all:

1.png2.png3.png4.png

6141f397-8f07-491c-a246-f8b33f1aecf5.png

6.png

2. Since factory reset on v32 I am no longer able to make full-panel screenshots with VolumeDown+Power hotkey those are saved in /sdcard/Pictures/Screenshot

3. Since v35 I am no longer able to make "common" screenshots with Oculus+Trigger hotkey

4. Oculus service on PC consumes really too much VRAM. (1.7 GB service, 240 MB Dash and 130 MB PC app, more than 2 gigs in total) Why?

5. Native Link interface when? Oculus Dash is in constant reprojections no matter what resolution and refresh rate are set, since Dash 2.0 release

6. Why is Link (cable) mode using sliced encoding (5 horizontal stripes) with H.264 codec, while Air Link is using full frame encoding with H.265? Sliced encoding can cause stripes desync or corruption with artifacts while nvenc is used by other apps (OBS, Discord, etc) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20OvtMt91YE and similar to https://forums.oculusvr.com/t5/Oculus-Quest-2-and-Quest/White-horizontal-stripe-across-screen-while-...

unknown

7. Where is screenshot button in new hand tracking menu?

unknownmsedge_NsMvZCnq0g.png

8. Why is thumb rest pad touch sensor still not used in Link? On original Rift it was pretty handy as it was possible to assign extra bindings

9. Fun meme made by one guy from russian community after series of screenshots of chat with support 😄

Of course we respect your efforts on making such valuable and affordable VR, but what's wrong with QA? Bugs leak to release builds even after they were reported in PTC, A/B feature rollout model is kinda sweden roulette, for example, I still don't have new settings menu design and Tablet mode and etc. v23 was the last totally stable version without any performance issues and noticable bugs...

XDeathReconX

So first it'd like to say it was nice actually getting this update officially on day two instead of day 30 and having to force the update myself, but Im still missing half the features... And it's been almost a month now? Why are these updates always chaos?

Cowthulu
Honored Guest

Just  because a bug is reported in PTC for any product doesn’t mean it should delay the launch. Some fixes would have to wait for the next release to fix since they would push back the launch and it’s considered more important to get out the new features. Heck we would still be on Windows 95 if we waited for Microsoft to make Windows 98 reported bug free.

Help! My Oculus Quest 2 wasn't recording videos properly so i did a system reset. So i have the latest operating system. But now i can't get the browser screen to resize. The width can be changed but not the height. How can I fix this?

Hey there Dowatchagotado,

We know how important menu visibility can be for your comfort, and not being able to see your browser in comfort can be detrimental to your Oculus experience. Since patch v37  was released, diagonal resizing has been implemented, and you can use your trigger buttons on either controller to resize your app windows! Make sure you're pointing at the corner of the app window you wish to resize, and drag to your heart's content! If you're still having issues, you can contact our support team for further assistance, and one of our eccentric agents will gladly guide you!

    • The most recent setting addition for v37 is the ability to adjust the thumbstick center dead zone, as well as the thumbstick range. You can make these adjustments from the Experimental Settings section within the settings panel.

This was a God send for me because in VTOL VR to lock onto a target you have to push the thumbstick down, but it would almost always involve a slight x/y axis movement of the thumbstick as well, which would prevent you from locking on.

The blurry thing I've managed to improve a little through playing around with the halo head strap adjustment, but the FOV actually in focus is still tiny. I've also noticed that there's quite a lot of fresnel effect now.

Looking forward to the next update. I've opted in for beta ones but had no luck.

I had ONE simple thing I wanted from this update and it's been a month and hasn't been fixed and that is to have SHARKS WITH FREAKING LAZER BEAMS ATTACHED TO THEIR HEADS!!! now evedently the Meta/Oculus workers have informed me that walking around in your home room by teleporting to different spots can not be done... IT'S BEEN A MONTH HERE!!! I mean honestly what do we even pay you people for😂😂😂

I don't expect a response to this, as I never get any response so far about bugs...😅

A little humor... But seriously only one or 2 things in this update worked... All else is a lie and/or broken.

OK, Quest v37 features still seem to be rolling out automatically, no need to check for updates.  I got the Horizon Home feature today (refer to the description on the 1st post in this thread).  Actually lots of fun to be able to move around your home environment.  Don't worry about finding your home centre again because when you do a restart it takes you back there.

I also got a small update on the Oculus Desktop app today and it actually has a nice description of 'what's new' for a change, lol!  It says the version is 1.39.1 but it is still reported as v37...79.109 on the bottom of the general settings tab.  I have not seen too many of these new features like the option to have passthrough stay on when you are just in the Void with the dashboard menu.  Probably like the Quest updates these things get rolled out over time.

Best thing with all this is that Link and Air Link continue to work very well with my Q2/rtx3090 with win10.  Thanks for all that Meta!

I’m not sure if this was a stealth feature addition, or if it’s been there for a while and I never noticed, but I discovered the other day that when you’re setting your Guardian floor height, you can raise and lower it with the thumbstick. It even lets you push it down below the real floor level, which should help with playing “standing only” games while seated. I like this better than the experimental “raise height” feature, which just gave you a fixed height offset with no fine tuning.

Q1 which always got updates before my Q2 is now behind but it has the home movement working.

Q1 is terrible in airlink but great in VD

Is there a way to deactivate the Quick Actions menu or to switch back to the old menu?
I implemented an accessibility solution for people with one arm only which uses a similar gesture and this quick action gesture is completely blocking this feature now because it opens the oculus menu and goes essentially out of the app.

@XDeathReconX  Mate, if you and a few others never got the full suite of v37 features by now you may have a corrupt install to begin with.  Either that or you have not checked for updates manually (some features need to be manually updated, others are automatic).  I suggest you do a factory reset which should take you to the current v37 with the full suite of v37 features.  Otherwise contact Oculus support I guess.  Good luck mate and cheers.
