The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Quest v77 started to roll out today for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S.
If you're seeing an issue or bug after updating to PTC v77:
1) For issues: Go to our Get Help board and search for any existing thread on the issue, if you don't find one, make a new thread. Please add the tag "PTC v77" to the thread and in the title. This way everyone can look for just PTC v77 issues too. 2) For bugs: If you come across a bug, please post each one you spot in its own thread, to keep track of individual issues separately. Please make sure to also send in bug reports along with posting on the forums if you notice anything going wrong. Share your impressions in the comments below and let us know if you see any issues. We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!
Wifi Downloadspeed on Quest Pro is still broken, Quest 3 is nomal (1600mbit/s), all are on same network with 160mhz channelbandwidth (it does not matter if i use a wifi 6e oder wifi 7 wifi-ap/router, i have tested both, wifie 6e router and a wifi 7 router) ... @offbeatkid Already have filled a bug report in V76, nothing has changed an now the bug has carried over to V77...
I can confirm the Quest Pro Wi-Fi download speed bug is still here on V77... I have reported the issue using the in-headset bug report tool with every update since the first build of V76 hit PTC. Can we get this fixed, pretty please?
Here are speed test results via Wi-Fi to a locally-hosted speed test server on my 2.5gbps LAN (this does not go out to the Internet at all, and has nothing to do with my Internet connection).
@offbeatkid Can you confirm that the downstream problem on Quest Pro in v76+ (only Quest Pro to my knowledge, Quest 3 is fine, Quest 2 i did not test) has been acknowledged and someone is working on the problem?
Last time I contacted Meta Support, they thought it was a Wi-Fi 7 problem and were mixing things up.
scoreboards for the functions for which I bought the vr goggles, additionally it is still displayed incorrectly from the application level and the goggles themselves. I accept the function as a key one, so it should not be disabled without my consent, and the support itself told me to wait for their repair. so I wait. if the goggles stop working, should I treat it as disabling the image display function in the vr goggles?
Anyone notice anything new with v77? I have noticed stability has tanked not sure if it's v77 or Worlds(or both) but I've especially noticed a ton of lag, freezing, black boxing, etc when I'm using Worlds especially when multitasking...
I just got V77 yesterday. Didn't notice anything new at first, but today I loaded an app that I'm working on and while it was loading, it put me in what I think is supposed to be a new loading environment... similar to the SteamVR opening area, but with less detail and more abstract. I think it looks kinda cool - good change. Then I noticed that it also showed up while I was connecting to my PC with Link.
I've been having problems with all Horizon Worlds since v76. It is laggy and black boxing. I turned off the Auto download and don't want to get the v77 PTC upgrade if there are problems there too. I have a Quest Pro and have bug reported already and did a factory reset. It's been a month now and no fixes yet. They said they are working on it. We'll I hope so cause the PRO wasn't cheap. Any one else with this problem? LMK
Having been on this forum since last weekend due to V76 issues, I'd like to ask a question to the community's veterans? Have you ever received a response or any exchanges with a human at Meta? Because right now, I feel like communication is only going one way? I opened a ticket on Friday, April 25, 2025, and received a single response on Saturday the 26th, asking me questions. I replied, but nothing more... Here, I received an automatic email asking if I had resolved my problem... The incompetence on their part is truly remarkable.
I always end up talking to a real person when I need help from support.
However, friends and family always get the run around when they try.
Seems having some technical knowledge and a decent attitude goes a long way in getting escalated to an actual person, as I've assisted most of my friends in getting their issues resolved after their initial try with nothing but success stories.
@christinaHAWAIIThis won't help. Meta has taken care of this and the software will update itself in some time. Read carefully what is written under the update information.
This can only be completely prevented by disabling the update application over ADB:
"Oh for crying out load will you lot just shut up about my poor little Quest Pro is so SLOWWW...!! Just throw it in the bin and go and buy yourself a Nice, Shiny, New Quest 3 and keep good old Zuc in the lap of luxury, besides that Quest Pro is 2 and half years old now so it's now classed as RETRO hardware, it belongs next to your Atari 2600 collecting dust!"
Also don't you read the News, Meta just got rid of a **bleep** load of people from Reality Labs and i'd bet that amongst them was the people that dealt with Quest Pro problems. ? So you think you've got it bad ? Get a Job at meta and it only lasts 2 years as your thrown out with the old hardware.! lol
Sorry guys for the sarcastic post, just trying to lighten the mood, I feel your pain I too have a Quest Pro (also a Q3 but that's not the point) and you'd expect a device that set you back over £1000 would have a longer shelf life ? Let's hope they fix it soon.?
To Meta: It was incredibly irresponsible to greenlight a PTC in this state. I realize it was a big jump to Android version 14, and there's more work to be done, but there are so many core features that are completely non-functional: Quest Pro is completely ****** for a lot of users because of the 200 Mbps bug, Wifi 7 locking up is also completely unacceptable, among many other bugs.
What's worse is that v77 barely fixes any of this. The core bugs mentioned above are not fixed at all. It's been more than a month!
I hate this "move fast break things" mentality; it just leads to people getting frustrated with their headsets, putting them down, and never picking them back up.
I've found v77 to be very very unstable, taking video in Horizon Worlds brings my headset to it's knees, Worlds is even more unstable that every single time I try to do anything outside of Worlds when it's open even editing my avatar causes serious lag, instability, crashes and forced reboots. I'm not sure which is the problem causer it could be both of them!
Can we please get an option to temporarily revert back to V74?
Or at least some acknowledgement from meta that the issues are being worked on?
I am unable to use my Quest 3 via Quest Link using the original cable for almost two weeks now. Like for many others my Quest Link software is very slow to start and crashes frequently which leads to game crashes and artefacts (DCS and MSFS). So far support was not able to provide a solution.
I find this very disappointing since i was very satisfied with my headset for the last year.
Unable to use PCVR after V76 Update sems the problem is: "pc APP Meta Quest Link", like everyone both air link or pc link doesn't work, after millions of test "included reinstall reinstall+ all optional test" and milions of search on forum they still not roll back to this dangerous update and people are keep waiting with no answer, also any of tools on the folder or debugs tools doesn't work. everything before v76 worked perfecly now doesn't work the basic stuff. please fix this problem immediately im not gonna wait months for nothing
The loading screen that @JeffNikmentioned in this thread (also i got the photo from his comment) is pissing me off because it takes forever to load Bonelab for me. Does anyone happen to have this issue or is it just me?
PLEASE CAN WE ROLL BACK TO 74, this 76 update link issue is so irritating I like others have tried everything to fix it with no luck and yes i am using your $80 cable. and have tried others its definitely a software bug. Pimax is calling my name....
Since V77 would upgrade the Android base version from 12 to 14, wouldn't it be a good time to add phisical keyboard languages other than English (US)?
I believe it's one of the most important issues regarding to Productivity with Quest 3.
It would also be great if the Windows 11 integration would be able to connect via USB and transfer up to 3 screens fluently without requiring a good WI-FI connection.
The issues with quest PC link seemed to start with v76. sometimes it works, but once I reboot pc I go into the same cycle, in headset it says its connected, I click on connect and it goes into a screen on headset of a colour field with meta logo and the three dots. it stays in same state for a while then changes to a black screen with meta logo before I eventually have to quit. It then goes back to my homescreen and I have to try all over again. PLEASE meta listen to the community, something broke link in v76, please ensure that v77 fixes these issues. A large proportion of quest users use it for PCVR, not just a standalone.
@offbeatkid Are you ever gonna give us an offical statement about the download issues on Quest Pro? Like we know about it and are working on a solution or anything? Like cmon I know you prioritize but this is is ridicioulus exceptionaly so as the support team has no clue about the problem. Its also affecting regular wifi aswell with stutter n such
you have pushed the v76 in April and completely ruined the experience in PCVR for almost everyone. You have done a hotfix 2 days ago still under v76 but I couldn't test for more than 10 min and see if the disconnection issue has been solved because you destroyed the frame pacing. My settings are the same as before but it stutters every 5 seconds and the game is unplayable.
At this point I am lost for words, I keep the headset on the table as a paper weight.
I have never in my life spent over 700 euro for a product, original accessories, including 100 euro for a cable, just to troubleshoot more than I actually use it. At least having a public acknowledgment and timeline for fixing the issue would calm some of us down, but there is absolute silence and this makes me think the only option is to sell and go buy from someone else.
To reiterate, this was the most frustrating tech experience I have yet encountered... and I remember the days of win 98... so that's something.
Seit dem Update von MetaOS V76 funktioniert das layout DEUTSCH nicht mehr, obwohl in den Einstellungen Physische Tastatur unter Geraete das Layout DEUTSCH vorhanden ist und angeklickt ist.
Since the update of MetaOS V76 the GERMAN layout no longer works, although the GERMAN layout is present and clicked in the Physical Keyboard settings under Devices.
Got a micro update to the Windows Desktop App v76 and (Air-)Link is **bleep**ed up... Sorry for the harsh words, but what's up with you guys from Meta?
Fix it immediately!
No version number change, stayed at 76.0.0.452.315... but for now, (Air-)Link is not usable anymore 😞 Good, that there is SteamLink, which works... much more stable than I thought.
Updated to v77 on my Quest 3 about two Weeks ago. Now my Internet Speed is way slower, Voice Chat keeps breaking so my Buddies can't understand a Word i'm saying, Apps keep crashing or starting by themselves constantly, also constant Freezes and Glitches when opening the Meta Menu while in a Game, Headset-Tracking Problems every few Minutes throwing you out of Games, when Recording Gameplay i get extreme Freezes/Lags, the Headset is way hotter on the top middle Part then it was before (are the Fans turned off? as i can't hear them at all now), even though the Headset is plugged in i keep losing Charge while before it just dropped to around 78-83% and stayed there, Preview-Play on Video Thumbnails like on Youtube when using the Browser don't work correct anymore, and so on.....
At least, Games don't auto-install themselves after uninstalling them, anymore... What an Upside. 🙃

use OculusKiller instead, it takes up less ram than the default link Dash BTW
