The Public Test Channel (PTC) for Quest v77 started to roll out today for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S.
If you're seeing an issue or bug after updating to PTC v77:
1) For issues: Go to our Get Help board and search for any existing thread on the issue, if you don't find one, make a new thread. Please add the tag "PTC v77" to the thread and in the title. We know it's tough when you run into a problem on a PTC build and want to thank you all again for testing out PTC and sharing your feedback! This feedback is extremely helpful to our engineering teams. We appreciate your interest and persistence in testing out the core functionality of software as we develop!
Still waiting for a fix for the broken Wi-Fi download speed on Quest Pro! Still broken on latest version v77.1026 Build 5080163.8490.340 that just came out today...
Hey, got an update to v77.1026 in retail channel... build 5097426.8860.520 (Q3). But no information about that? No Blog, no Release-Notes? Nothing?
Sorry Dev Team from Meta... your work got really, really bad.
By that, also got another micro-update to the desktop app - third time! No version change, nothing about it - I'll see if (Air-)Link was destroyed again...
OK, (Air-)Link is rock stable now - that one works! But what about that fancy AppPicker everyone is talking about? This one look and feels as before... and I forgot: the controller got an update also.
@TomCgcmfc OK, now I know, what you've ment with "bottom panel screen options". Or, as I'd call it: "the X below" 🤣 Comes with first restart, which takes very long.
@Buetigame I haven't seen non-PTC v77 yet but I did get a v76.1026 update yesterday on my QPro. I still don't see the X-below panel thing. Also, tested out with Air Link using h.264 and still see the ~200mbps bitrate limit. Back to Link with 900mbps max dynamic bitrate and this results in ~750mbps, which still works great, for me anyway. Cheers.
@567ne567neb.2025 72Hz has been the lowest refresh rate with meta-link pc app for as long as I can remember. Sounds like more Reddit kiddie repost garbage imho.
on my main profile, i still have the old ui from V76 and im currently on PTC, when i switched to a different profile, i have v77 with the navigator. why is that?
@TomCgcmfc Just for you 😉 Got my Quest2 out the box and look for updates. It's v77.1026 but with different buid 5158488.8460.150 of course... (different sizes also 1.38GB vs. 1.17GB and no controller updates)
Same procedure with Q2: after update no changes, after first off/on "the X below" 😉 So it seems QPro is the only one, not getteing the new update for now.
@Choleni that's crazy... if you look at US or german "Help" site... no v77. But if you look at the UK Release-Notes it's there... Thx mate!
@NewNavigator: "Navigator will begin rolling out as a limited test to some people on our Public Test Channel (PTC) with v77 and is expected to roll out gradually to all users over the coming months. This is just the beginning of a broader evolution of Horizon OS. We’ve got much more planned for the future of spatial computing."
@Quest1: Powered on my pretty old Quest1 (still on v50 of course) and connected it to the PC (Air-Link). And what schould I say? It works... and these really deep blacks... I love it. Shutted it down really quick before I get used to it 😍
I provided various comments as well as bug reports about that the fact that V76 breaks handtracking if you connect to Link. You have to restart the device to get hand tracking back (and need a controller to quit Link.
This seems to still be present in PTC v77. What more can I do to report this issue?
Again, the use case for me is PCVR sim setup where I don't need the controllers.
How long before we see an increase in complaints regarding broken Meta buttons on the right controller because this "NEW" UI makes you press it every bloody time to redisplay the APPs page after going to any other screen...????!!!! For those of you complaining that you still haven't got the new UI yet ? think yourself lucky its a pile of crap!!
Hate to say I told you so...!! latest news is the Quest 4 for next year has been dropped in favor of a light weight pair of glasses to compete with googles/samsungs latest offering of controller free MR headset..!! This has been their course all along with this Navigator UI update (which in my opinion is total **bleep** for VR but ok'ish for MR) Hay Ho! truth be told the VR market is tiny compared to the Smart glasses market so no surprise that Meta will drop the Quest line totally in a few years ?! Well it was fun while it lasted ! 😞 Just a shame VR never really got it's chance in the sun ?
OK, earlier today I got non-ptc v77.1026 updates on both my QPro and Q3/512Gb headsets. I also got non-beta v77.0.0.574.329 on the meta link pc app. After a restart on both headsets I now have the new ui with x-below. Tested a few standalone games and PCVR games/sims (meta link store, VivePort, and Steam) with Link and Air Link are all working very well.
However, my QPro still has its wireless bitrate limit throttled down to around 240-280mbps using Air Link and h.264. No big deal for me since I only use my QPro with a Link cable and can easily get 750-800mbps bitrate with dynamic bitrate Max set to 900mbps. Still, something that Meta eventually need to address asap.
Don't know about Navigator since it's not really a feature that interests me right now. Main thing for me is that all my standalone games and PCVR games/sims are working well. Cheers.
Just got V78 PTC update, and incredibly the Quest Pro Wi-Fi speed limiting bug is STILL not fixed! I have to have reported this well over a dozen times, yet the issue made it to the official release in both V76 and in V77. And now V78 PTC is here and this bug is still present. I guess Meta just ignores bug reports? I don't understand the point of PTC if bug reports are going to be ignored.
@dobkun if you would have read the release notes, you would know that it can take MONTHS until you get it.
Rollout details
Navigator will begin rolling out as a limited test to some people on our Public Test Channel (PTC) with v77 and is expected to roll out gradually to all users over the coming months. This is just the beginning of a broader evolution of Horizon OS. We’ve got much more planned for the future of spatial computing.
Not getting feedback on this test channel is strange is there a better to transfer @meta valuable user feedback ? For example, the navigator needs to have an handle to grab and move closer, don't forget hand interaction, it's currently too far to interact with our hands. Please advise
Today I helped update non-ptc v77.1026 and meta link pc app v77.0.0.574.329 for a flight/racing sim buddy on 2x win11 PC's, both using Link. One is a Q2/rtx2080s with Kuject powered link cable (mainly used with racing sims), the other one a Q3/512Gb/rtx3090 (mainly used with flight sims) with the official link cable connected to the z390mb usb3.2 gen2 type c port. Both using these same ODT settings, which I also use for Link and Air Link;
Both using meta-link graphics at 80Hz refresh rate. Res slider at 1.2x for rtx3090 and 1.1x for rtx2080s (I use 80Hz and full right 1.4x with my rtx4090). Also, win11 graphics disabled HAGS (hardware acceleration graphics) and turned game mode = off. Nvidia control panel global 3D settings all defaults except power = prefer max performance and quality textures Quality default changed to High Performance.
After testing with a few sims (Q3 with msfs 2020 and Q2 with Assetto Corsa) all was working very well. I found it interesting to see a rainbow colored link startup with both of these, then going to the usual white with black gridline void. I don't currently see this with my QPro or Q3 headsets, but they both still end up ok in the same meta link home void.
I really like that v77.1026 stationary boundary has the Large option (~2x the size of the older one). This now works fine with Q2/Q3/QPro headsets. Thanks Meta!
So, if you're having issues, I think it's best to get some local help. Even if it costs you a free lunch and/or a good bottle of something, lol! Cheers.
@Xypheron Sorry I can't say because I never use hand tracking (standalone or PCVR).
So far all my Quest touch controllers, including my Pro controllers seem to be working fine. The Pro controllers do occasionally need a bit of waving around to get them to track properly if I've put them aside while playing flight sims like msfs 2020 when I only use flight control sticks. This has always been the case, for me anyway, lol!
@TomCgcmfc Congrats to you for getting "X below" UI and the new animation while staring apps. The only difference between standard apps and Link is the additional white Meta infinity symbol.
Also confirming new updates to the Meta Quest Link desktop app (same version) and another to v77.1026 firmware, while it's build 5097426.9710.520 now.
Everything works fine with my Q3/512 but didn't check that with Q2/64... prooved that with the demanding "ImmersiX" which ist mostly for free (only one DLC cost a little) and some "The Room VR" (Oculus version).
THANK YOU for adding TTS as an accessibility feature! Honestly this was the missing feature needed to complete my VR experience. As a visually impaired person, these kinds of features are a game changer. You rock Meta team!
Earlier today I got another non-ptc v77.1027 update (including firmware) on both my Q3 and QPro. I now get that pretty multi-colored panel when Link or Air Link starts up, followed very quickly to the usual meta-link grided void.
All seems to be working fine but my QPro is still wireless bitrate limited to ~240-280mbps. No big deal for me since I only use my QPro with a Link cable and it easily gets 750-800mbps dynamic bitrate. Still, something that meta needs to fix asap imho.
I've been having some issues with le audio. One being bad latency between 350-450ms. Also another problem is one of my headphones requires le audio to be toggled on before it's connected but meta menu only allows the le toggle to be used after the headphone is connected.
So it's a hardware incompatibility... does it work with prior firmwares on your... what?... Quest/2/3/3s/Pro? You should be more specific and you can be helped... maybe.
@TomCgcmfc I've also got the new firmware yesterday v77.1027 build 5097426.10090.520 for my Q3 incl. controller updates. Again another "micro update" for the Meta Quest desktop app... PCVR works fine as before. What's new is the "first encounter" mini game ... which got a hefty update and starts automatically after (on/off) restart. Nothing else so far... maybe there is more, but got no more time to look in it 😉
I just installed v78 and now all my headphones that support le lc3 connect easily and low latency. I honestly didn't expect these problems to be fixed so quickly but there you go.
I've tested
Sony wf-1000xm5(sound fantastic)
Samsung buds pro 3(didn't sound great)
Cleer arc 3( sound great)
Nwm dots (sound ok)
And my bluetooth neckband for iem with qcc5181( the beez knees )
All work in le audio now on v78
If meta add aptx adaptive low latency even more headphones will work.
@dobkun I've got 2 quest 3 headsets. Only one of them allowed me to update to v78. The other is still v77 even though they are using the same base account. Still no navigator one either. Not a fan of how navigator looks. I hope eventually we can customize and use our own skins ontop of the ui with custom launchers like we can do on other android devices.
