I am not a developer, simply someone who likes to play around in editors some. I don`t have the time or the skill to actually develope a game, but I have an idea that I feel could work really well in the Rift. So I thought to throw it out there, maybe someone with time and skill wants to give it a go.
X-School
Overview
The game is basically about a small boy in middle school that sits in a wheel chair. He gets picked on a lot and always gets reminded of the things he can`t do. Then one day a pencil starts floating in front of him - the next its the bowl of cereals. And after some time he finds out, that he is the one manipulating the world. Basically telekinesis. He learns to use his new power, and it grows stronger. After some time he learns to elevate his wheel chair and basically fly.
From there on it could go in several directions. Either it is just about discovering the world and what he can do (so basically a "nongame". Or it could be about empowering him - first messing around with silly stuff (letting chalk fly at teachers or manipulation sport events), then perhaps doing some minor "evil" stuff like stealing test questions, lifting up a girls skirt or letting a football fly at the schools bully, and finally him using his power to do something heroic like saving a school bus that dropped in a lake.
Another possibilty is, that he is not the only one that discovers powers...
Why it intrigues me
Well to get the best immersion, the players physical state should be pretty close to the avatars physical state. So I think a wheel chair would be an ideal scenario. I also like the idea of a disabled kid discovering powers that lets him do stuff, that nobody else can. And I think it would be great fun to be able to float stuff with motion controllers.
What do I want?
Well, basically nothing - I´d just love to try a game with a premise at least similar to that. If anyone wants to give that scenario a go, it is of course up to them if they want to tell a great story, develope a great playground or just have fun gameplay... if anyone is interested in that idea, just go for it. It´d be cool if you`d inform me, but I don`t need anything else. If anyone would be interested, I´d probably be open to be involved as a writer or to help with the concept, but it would be no problem, if you want to keep me completely out of it.
