Hello,
I’ve been doing some tests and understand that audio files can't be uploaded, so I started experimenting with the sound recorder. However, I’ve run into a snag trying to figure out where the mic signal is being sourced from by default.
I'm using a Focusrite 1820 in my studio setup, but I haven’t had any luck getting any recordings. Is there a video or guide that walks through the setup process? Or is there a specific setting that lets you select the recording device?
Here’s the documentation I’ve been looking at:
https://developers.meta.com/horizon-worlds/learn/documentation/code-blocks-and-gizmos/use-the-sound-...
Also would being able to upload sound files be in the development pipeline in the future?

I have an inline soundcard that runs between my iPad and the USBC Port on the headset with “External Mic” turned on in the settings.
It works well and if you like I can talk to you privately about the process and the cheap hardware required.

As of v210, it's possible to upload audio directly to Horizon Worlds. Here's the documentation for it.
However, if you want to know how to record audio into the Desktop Editor, here's the instructions for that:
On Windows, Meta Horizon Worlds uses the default input audio device. To change the audio source, follow these steps:

Have you done any sound comparisons to evaluate the quality of both methods?

I haven't tried the method on both the headset and Desktop Editor, but I have been using this approach in the Desktop Editor. By combining it with software like Soundpad, I've been able to successfully record custom songs and sound effects into Meta Horizon Worlds.

I am not sure what your purposes are but I have been striving for synced Stereo which with these methods each side L + R must be recorded separately. Have you found a solution or addressed the timing issues for recording?

In a way it is possible to "upload" sound to Horizon Worlds using the technique described here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-96_FmiYBhc
I have used this technique to record audio sound tracks using Audacity and later upload these sound clips to the desktop editor.

Perfect timing. Thankyou @Ben.SH and @pablosc. Another thing I ran into is the sound recorder max audio range is set to 1000 units. My world was 4000 in diameter with a planned mechanic where the audio layered as you got closer to the center, is there a place where i could ask for this to be extended?
Right now just working around it.

That is correct about the max units.
You can submit feedback requests here.
Any requests are prioritized based on long-term product goals and feasibility. A change could take some time, so you may want to explore a workaround using multiple sound gizmos with varying intensities.
