Virtual reality is a new form of technology that allows you to see things in 3D which can benefit the user's ability to learn. The app, Body and Health is perfect to help those who are having a hard time with tracking their food choices, weight and exercises. The concept of the app stems from the common struggle some people have with how hard it is to watch your food choices and how to exercise the correct way. Health and Body can make a huge impact on those who are trying to get into shape, but do not know where to begin. The purpose
of the app is to teach people a healthy lifestyle, in order for them to take control over their mind, body, and health. Body and Health is an app designed to help people live a healthier lifestyle. To achieve this goal, the app has multiple features. First, before enjoying any of the features, the app has to be downloaded. This can be done through the user's headset. The app is free, but there are some features that cost $.99 a month to receive or the user can pay $9.00 a year for all of the features. The yearly subscription would save the user $2.88. The yearly subscription would also motivate users to use the app more because they already paid for the year. Unlike if they were paying monthly, they can’t just cancel. Being that they already paid for the year, the user will want to get their “money's worth” and use the app which will, at the end of the day, result in their health thriving. The first feature is that it can track steps. This may not be useful for counting everyday step amounts because one obviously has to have the headset on for the steps to be counted but, the step counter could be useful when tracking step amounts during a workout. Then they could be added into a daily step amount if one normally wears a watch, fit bit etc. to track their normal steps. Yes, we understand that many people already have step counters, but this was a nice add on to the other features the app has which will draw people to use it. Another feature the app has is that it tracks your heart rate. This will be beneficial because a lot of people like to know the peaks and falls of their heart rate during a workout. Again, there are watches, fit bits etc., that do this but, what sets our app apart is that you can actually listen to your heartbeat. This is a feature that app users will enjoy because instead of just looking for what their bpm, beats per minute, was they can hear what the heartbeat was. Users can listen to this in real time, or they can go back and listen as the app records and stores their heart information. This is just one of the ways our app allows users to get more interactive with their health. A fourth feature that the app has is that it has workouts available that a user can follow along with. These workouts can be customized by the user or the user can pick a workout focusing on a target area. The user can customize the workouts based on what exercises they like to do. For example, if a user hates running, they don’t have to have that in their workout routine. Lastly, the user can put in information about what areas they are focusing on and the app can choose certain workouts that hit those target areas. For example, the workouts can be specified for cardio, legs, arms, abdominals, butts etc. Alongside with the workout plan feature, another features this app has is that location can be changed. So, instead of doing a traditional workout in your room, or the boring and possibly intimidating gym, why not be on the beach? Or maybe you would run down the streets of Paris? The app allows for a variety of different locations to add a little bit of fun and change of scenery to any workout. The last major feature that the app has is that it can help an individual with their food habits as well. The app can count calories when the food one eats is inputted. This can help if the user is trying to stay within a certain number of calories for the day. The app can also show you what physical portion sizes should look like of foods you want to eat. This can help the user to be conscious of the portion sizes of what they are eating. Alongside with this, the user can be given meal plans and ideas of healthier eating habits to better their health. There are also features the user can enjoy by paying the monthly or yearly subscription. Many of the apps in society today always come with extra features if a person wants them. We decided to make purchasing extra features optional because we understand that everyone may not want / be able to afford the extra features, and they just would like the basic version. However, the extra features are definitely a bonus. We have included specific workout videos that would best fit the buyer. The user can put in information about what areas they are focusing on and the app can design a weekly plan that will help them stay on track. The difference between this type of workout and the user customizing their own is that the app can throw in workouts the user may not normally do. This will help get the user out of their comfort zone and willing to try new things. Another feature that is beneficial to the users is having the option to meditate and being able to relax. Some people do not get the opportunity to meditate due to many responsibilities. With the meditating feature, a person could be anywhere and take five minutes out of their day to sit down, clear their mind, and listen to the sound of the waves and even have a live picture of a beach. The last feature we have decided to include is having books on the app. The books can either be read out loud to you, or you can choose to have the words on the screen and read it yourself, whichever works best for the user. We feel like having multiple features for a user may make the app more exciting, entertaining, and feel like the user is accomplishing their goals. By having many different features, we hope to appeal to all age groups, genders, races etc. The app can be used by anyone. The app is ideally geared toward the 13 and above age group but there is no restriction on what age is able to download and use the app. The app does not have an age restriction because the app is not designed to exclude any person. The app is, as stated, trying to encourage people to live a healthier lifestyle regardless of age, gender, race, figure etc. The app can be a motivator to people who are struggling with their weight or simply just trying to tone up/stay in shape. The app can also be a motivator to eat healthier and in more proportionate sizes. The way that the app is most helpful is that it aims to make the user comfortable. There is no judging and by being able to do this from your house, there is no intimidation from other people as there can be in a gym, running down the street, with friends etc. Another way the app can be motivating is by rewards the app offers. These rewards encourage the user to push themselves by completing workouts, watching their calories etc. When the opportunity to receive rewards is present, it of course makes one want to work harder. Having rewards on the app can be very motivating and makes the user feel like they have to keep going. Our different rewards start off minimal. Such as when you reach a certain number of steps and activity movement, your points start to add up. When the user is having a perfect workout week, which includes hitting calories, doing the workouts, reaching a new heart rate goal, those can get the user extra points. When you get those extra points from having a perfect week, the points build up and you are able to get gift cards through the app to places like Amazon, Target, iTunes, and even the VR app store. If someone has the free version and they hit a perfect week, they can receive a gift card to purchase the extra version.
