Can you use gift cards to buy shiny rocks in Gorilla Tag?

The problem was simple to solve, but the solution was not apparent, or anything like other companies such as Roblox, Steam, or Minecraft. I was logging in to my parent account and trying to find a way to make a purchase for the child I was supervising. The solution was to log in to the 'completely separate' teen's account, and I found my credit card info stored there. Of course I don't want him to have the credit card permanently. In the future, I will have to log in to 'his' account, add the credit card, and go on the goggles to make the purchase. Then I will log in to 'his' account again and remove the credit card. As long as I have access to 'his' login info that will work.

Hey Brax2020! We see you are wondering about our gift cards purchase options. No worries, we will help you get pointed in the right direction. The gift cards at this time are only able to make purchases in the Meta store. Since shiny rocks are an in game purchase they will not be able to be used for this. However, add-ons that are available in the store can be bought with gift cards. Gorilla Tag released a launch bundle add-on for their new update that does come with shiny rocks and this can be purchased with a gift card. We hope this has answered your question.

No it does not answer my question. I want to buy shiny rocks for my teen that I supervise without putting my credit card on his account. Roblox allows me to buy a gift card and use that code # to purchase Robux on the child's account. Minecraft allows me to purchase for my teen without giving him access to my credit card. I cannot figure out if that is possible on Gorilla Tag, or through Oculus. I've Googled for hours. Is it even possible??

Hi there @Anonymous, we were zooming on by and noticed you have an inquiry about shiny rocks for Gorilla Tag. We know not being able to use a gift card to purchase in-game content can be inconvenient, and we understand how important parental supervision is for you. At this current time, you will need to have a card or PayPal account on the headset to make any purchases, however, you can enable a PIN request on any and every purchase that account makes. To enable this, so that your child won't have access to your funds without your consent, please review the following below:
To opt in or out on the Meta Quest mobile app::
Note: If you have PIN purchase protection on, you will need to enter your PIN in order to opt out.
We hope this helps!

The only concern I have now is that when I tried to make a purchase on my teen's account, I went virtual and got in front of the virtual ATM. Immediately several other players approached and watched what I was doing. I cancelled the transaction and am trying to understand the security involved. Again, I am new to this.

Hey hey, I'm happy to hear that you were able to find a way to make the purchases on your child's account that works for you. I know that our engineers and developers are always looking for ways to improve features and the experience for all of our Quest users. If you have any ideas/feedback about how to improve the parental control features for this, I would highly recommend posting it on the Ideas board here on the Forums so it gets seen by the right people!
In regard to the virtual ATM in Gorilla Tag, I don't have much personal experience with Gorilla Tag, but I would imagine that it keeps all of your private info secure. If you're concerned about it at all though, I would definitely recommend reaching out to the Gorilla Tag developer and ask them directly! You can reach them on their website here: https://support.gorillatagvr.com/

I wanted to buy shiny rocks for my child, but did not want to leave my credit card information on his account permanently. I also wanted a private, secure way to add the credit card without typing it in while wearing the headset, and having other players watch. I have a parent oculus account and a child account that is linked to my parent account. I can log into both on the PC without having to use the Quest. I have the child's login information. I logged into the child's account on my PC and entered my credit card information. Then I physically put on his Quest headset, walked in virtual to the ATM inside the Gorilla Tag game, and made the Shiny Rocks purchase using the stored credit card information. (This way I did not have to enter the full credit card number on the Quest virtual ATM, in front of other players.) I removed the headset, went back to the PC, logged into the child's account, and removed the credit card information, as I do not want him to have the ability to make purchases without my knowledge.
