Developer Mode Issues Update

mouse_bear
Retired Support

Hello everyone,

Thank you all for your reports and your patience on this issue! In regards to developers being unable to enable Developer Mode in the Oculus app, a new update has been pushed to fix the issue. Please update your Oculus app to the latest version (as of the date of this post) and try enabling Developer Mode once more.

Update 11/8The fix pushed to the latest App Update does not seem to have fixed the issue for all developers. At this time we are re-opening the issue and will update this post as well as this forum thread with any relevant details.

In the meantime, many of our awesome developers have shared that verifying using a Credit Card allowed the Developer Mode option to appear.

Update 11/15: We have received reports that this issue has been fixed for most developers experiencing this issue. Please log out and log back into your Oculus app and try enabling Developer Mode once more. If you still experience the same issue, please reach out to our team at https://developer.oculus.com/support (click "Contact Us") and we'll dive deeper.

I managed to get dev mode enabled on my Quest 2. It seems like if you already have a credit card tied to your account and you cannot enable dev mode, then you will need to remove that card and add it back in order for it to show up.

I am having this problem as well… I tried the suggested fix and no luck. Please let me know if there’s anything else that can be done!

Indeed, had to wipe all data of the Oculus of on my Android phone, then the devices menu appeared.

As of today, Dev mode for me is now accessible again. I'll try to add all the things I have tried to get to this point.

First, update headset.

Second, clear app data on Phone app. Then reload info and log into app and then re-setup headset in app.

Fifth, check/enable two factor authorization in the app(user>account settings>two factor).

Sixth, delete payment methods on Oculus account. Then Re-enter payment in BOTH the app and PC Oculus program.

I hope some of these suggestions help 🙂

I also have this issue as my account shows I am not part of my organisation. My admin has removed and re-added me several times with no affect.

This is an issue again currently. iOS, Android both can't enable developer mode. A red bar is shown at the bottom saying the there was a problem loading and to try again.

Sorry but there is still not fix with this. If you have one please contact us

Read that a fix might be to do a deeper factory reset on the device itself rather than using the app but have not tried it myself:

  1. Press and hold the power and volume down buttons on your Quest or Quest 2 until it turns on.
  2. Use the volume button to highlight Factory reset, then press the power button to select it.

Indeed the error was resolved in 2021 but today in 2022 it starts again it does not work again it does not work neither with the mobile application nor with the desktop application Oculus Developer Hub it is impossible to activate the mode developer even with a verified developer account with a phone number and a bank card you can open the problem because it still does not work in V37 in 2022

It does not work. Enabling developer mode is not possible from the mobile app. Enable developer dialog from the headset has no effect. Please reopen this issue and actually fix it. We very much would like to add VR experiences and content to your network, but this is not possible at the moment.
