Hello,
I've upgraded my system from a 3090 to a 7900 XTX. I get better performance with the 7900 XTX when using virtual desktop (everything is fine) instead of using the original software. But when using the original meta software, the 7900 XTX (amds newest graphics card) I get a warning message "Not compatible" and if connecting my quest 3 via cable I get horrible performance.
So it is 100% that the meta link software is the problem.
The 7900 XTX was released 2022-12-22? What is taking so long? Why are the nvidia newest gen hardware supported and not amd?
Now to the main question:
When can we expect after two years a update, that implement support for the AMD 7000 Series cards?

Hello, thank you for your answer.
The AMD top tier card was released as I said 2022-12-22. And you answering me the "date of the next compatibility advancement is unknown" please explain this to me, I dont understand this...
Can you please recheck this?

I went back to Nvidia because AMD doesn't prioritise VR (as it's a minority of their users) and VR headset manufacturers don't prioritise AMD (presumably because it's also minority of their users).
At least instead of Quest airlink/link you can just use Virtual Desktop, the Varjo Aero and DPVR E4 apparently have no AMD support at all.

AMD isnt the problem here. I have much better FPS on my 7900 XTX then on my 3090 when using virtual desktop. There was a problem a year ago with 7000 series and VR, this was listed as know bug and was fixed. This is why virtual desktop is functional as expected. On Link Cable the AMD endcoder only shows a usage of 34%. On virtual desktop 54% and butter smooth gameplay. But I dont have the best internet router and only oculus link supports a USB connection but I have a nice 5M USB-C cable.
There are also videos on youtube which showing the same result. Virtual desktop as expected and meta software unplayable.
I need 24GB VRAM also for my work so a 4080 isnt a solution for me. This is also why im using before the 7900XTX the 3090. But the 4090 is overpriced as hell and I dont want to support the price politics from nvidia anymore.
This is the original software for this VR device and I want to use them. The 7000 series was released two years ago and meta listed unitl today the 7000 cards as not supported. WTF?

Ya, no one likes the price of the nvidia rtx4090 gpu, or the original price of the Quest Pro. I was fortunate enough to be able to afford both and man does this combo with the official Link cable work fantastic with sims like msfs2020.
Sounds to me like your best/cheapest option is to get a dedicated wifi6 router (~$80) and use that with Virtual Desktop.

The answer from him was to not use your software. The problem is, that only the official link software supports link over cable and I need link cable, so virtual desktop is no option for me. I only use this example to explain that this performance issue is not a amd problem. So this problem is not solved until this company releases a update to support the newest amd gpu generation from 2022 (We now have 2024).

It seems to me that the main issue is Oculus software for the PC is not compatible with AMD 7900 products. Will this ever be addressed? I don't think so. It's been well over a year and a half since they were aware of this issue.
