Hi everyone,
I am Chris from Germany and a school in my city Bonn, where I gave VR music workshops 2-3x a week last year (here a video: https://vimeo.com/661288148 ) ...now wants to create a permanent VR classroom with me.
The VRApp list is also already set and there will be 20 VR glasses (Quest 2), 5 of which are set aside as reserves. Internet will only be provided in the VR room with an LTE cube, but all VR apps dont need a Internet-Access - so it can be used offline.
The whole thing is to be implemented in September 2023, they are asking me to come up with a solution now.
I am then supposed to train the teachers in September.
I will contact every app manufacturer to see if they can provide an APK file with 20 licences, because there is a problem that has already been indirectly discussed here in the forum:
All Q2s will be optional with "one" meta account and the offline APK in each case, so that there are no overlapping problems, and the teacher with an Android tablet where the meta account is linked can do screencasting through the LTE cube (one at a time).
By the way, 4 high-performance access points (one in each corner) would be set up in the room so that at least networking is possible, and the quests think there is WLAN but with very slow Internet (provided by the LTE Cube), which they don't need Internet Access. Except for the connection of screencasting, but it would only be from a headset to a tablet, one by one (not in the same time).
There would be enough emails for separate accounts alternatively, so that you can also set up all accounts separately.
My question is, since the apps are offline, is there an alternative to meta-screencasting? Kind of like VNC or Teamviewer, but offline? Since, as I said, a WLAN mesh is set up, and it would be cool if there was a kind of VNC where the teacher could monitor the tablet that is in the offline WLAN, then, if desired, connect e.g. Quest Number 12, and can help the student. Because everything is streamed within the mesh network.
Does anyone have a tip? There will be enough bandwidth in the offline WLAN network, but it will be very slow outside (1 LTE BOX).

Hey @SYNTHONIE. This is an interesting one for sure. I do want to note, at this time the only thing we officially support is casting through network.
I hope someone who's been able to do it successfully can chime in and give some insight on how to do so.

Thank you,
but that dont work on german schools. Here in germany there is no internet room or something else in a school. That is very rarely!!
So my plan is, get a tablet, install the meta app, and screencast there all VR Headsets, via the meta app through the wlan mesh that have the inet connection via the LTE Cube. And use the inet only for screencasting.
And your link is not optimal for teachers, because when a student ask for help, the teacher must easly access without special options or code the student with the VR Headset number 12 for example. And the meta app will be the perfect solution. But sadly that need inet (for no reason) but whatever the LTE Cube will handle that peer to peer connection. (hopefully)

Hey there! As I wish I could provide some help there are still things that have not been provided for these devices. However, this would be a great idea and you should provide it in our Idea Forums. I can assure you others might be thinking the same thing and is never late to let your voice heard.
This device definitely could help so many teachers around the world!

@AliceinVRworld Thank you, but that all is not an Idea anymore. The School want it! And it seems to be the first school in general who use several 6Dof VR Apps (they dont want 360 Videos) and we have already the Apps what we need. History, Math, Chemistry, Physics, Music, Art and Human Biology. All of them I saw on the Oculus Store that no Internet will be required.
The School has the money, and being triggerd because i gave them last year A LOT of VR Music Workshops, and they also triggerd because in germany there was a crazy news that a german XR Company got 1 Million Euros for a silly Barber-App. And my school teaches also upcoming Barbers - that school is a vocational school!
So i got now a 5 digit buget to solve everything,

Yes! However, there is still a lot things that could be added as a VR device and hopefully you can get this worked on. This is the kind of passion we want for everyone! Best wishes 🤞

Hey Chris! It's great to hear that the school in Bonn is so interested in your work. Creating a permanent VR class sounds exciting! Quest 2 is an excellent choice for such a project due to its portability and VR capabilities. I, too, was on the cusp of creation, but due to the fact that I was a colored skin tone, I was not allowed to advance. I even started looking into "black lives matter", found https://supremestudy.com/essay-examples/black-lives-matter/ for that. I'm sure you have everything ahead of you. Based on your experience with music workshops, I'm sure your new VR class will be amazing. If you have any questions or need additional support, please feel free to contact us. Good luck in creating unforgettable VR lessons for school students!
