AMD 6950 XT Compatibility

Honored Guest

I recently changed my video card to AMD 6950 XT with all drivers up to date.

Oculus shows that "Your computer doesn't meet the updated minimum specifications, which can lead to a poor experience in VR". The refreshing rate of the VR is also unreasonably low.

Does any have the same issue with me?

@zhang.jingze Seems like quite the issue there bud.

If it states your PC as not meeting the requirements, there are a couple of things you could try out:

  1. Update Windows 10/11
  2. Check Oculus drivers for updates:
    1. Close the Oculus app.
    2. Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run command.
    3. Enter C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-drivers.
    4. Open oculus-driver.
    5. Open the Oculus app and then try to connect your headset again.

As for the performance, you do want to make sure those are set to default:

  • Open the Oculus app on your Computer.
  • Click Devices on the left side of the app.
  • Click Quest and Touch.
  • Click Graphics Preferences.
  • Click Reset to default.
  • Click Save and Restart

If nothing here seems to help out, you might want to get your Logs (See below) and reach out to the Support Team for other options.

To gather your Oculus logs:

  1. Open the Run window (Windows key + R).
  2. Enter and run: C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics\OculusLogGatherer.exe
    • The above link is the default directory. Bear in mind that if you installed the Oculus PC app to another drive you will need to update the command with the correct file path.
  3. Select the checkbox next to ‘Full logs’.
  4. Select "1 day" from the "Collect last" drop down list.
  5. Wait for the log collection to finish. This can take some time to complete.
  6. The program will automatically generate a zip file containing your logs, which will be saved to your desktop.
  7. Attach the newly created zip file to your next support response.

I hope any of this information is of use to you!

The problem might be that you didn't completely uninstall the Nvida driver from you PC before you switched to the AMD card. There are windows registry files that can cause problems in performance if they are left on your PC. I use a program that FREE called DDU uninstaller that completely removes the drivers when switching brands of GPU's.

I have the same issue. I tried the recommended steps from TheAntiSocializer but nothing helps. I'll be submitting a support ticket.

I've had the same issue, will try going through these steps later!

I had the same issue after updating my graphics card from nVidia.

Could not get it resolved so I updated my CPU and motherboard, still have the same issue so I'm thinking the 6950xt is not supported by Meta - not good guys.

I'm getting the same problem, obviously Oculus haven't caught up yet for the 6950 XT, I put my settings to share data reports and hope they pull their finger out. I did however find that the virtual pc app seemed to work better most times.

Hiya @Baconator84! We hope you're having an amazing day today! Thank you for reaching out to us in regards to this issue. We want to make sure that there are no issues for you as the AMD 6950XT should be compatible. Have you made sure your drivers are all updated?

Yes all my drivers are up to date, if you look online there are loads of people complaining about AMD incompatibility. My spec is way above recommended and yet it said 'does not meet requirement', the videos in the game shop were hardly visible and the graphics of the headset were below expectations after viewing reviews. The posts I found about AMD incompatibility spanned over the last few years so I'm not willing to waste £700 on a 512gb version and accessories when it isn't functioning correctly yet so I sent it back to the retailer.

Better luck next time.
