ASW is completely broken and creates artefacts that prevents me from playing any PCVR game

Hello,

I've the weirdest issue and it suddenly (well, at least I don't know what's causing it) appeared: ASW is triggering horrible artifacts, mostly on plain background.

Video of the issue:

- It happens on every game I've tried. It also happens on the PCVR Oculus Dashboard.

- This is not a framerate issue.

- It happens mainly on plain backgrounds and a lot less when there is details.

- It happens only with my 4090. If I put my 3090 back, the issue is gone.

Quest 2 (Link or Airlink)

4090 RTX with 526.86 drivers

Oculus software 46.0.0.230.0 (46.0.0.229.0)

Could you guys tell me if this is an issue on my side or if ASW is actually broken? Could be an Nvidia driver issue, Oculus software issue, I really don't know so I'd like some support from Oculus Team.

@MetaQuestSupport Have you guys ever seen this or got reports about a similar issue?

Thanks!

OK so it's not Gainward related then, thank you!

I have a zotac 4090. I'm pretty sure it's a RTX 4 series problem

What game is this? I have a 4090

In this video I took with Virtual Desktop that is very plain in detail and ASW on auto I am not seeing the effect, is there some way to trigger it?

Virtual Desktop is irrelevant here, it doesn't use ASW even if turned on so you won't see the problem. You need to use Link or Airlink.

I did my video with Flight Simulator.

This is indeed an issue only with the 4x series. I've a Gainward Phantom 4090.

Ah OK.  I haven't tried airlink much because its harder to use and seems far worse quality than VD.  Maybe this is part of why I thought it looked worse.

Can you give it a try Ruined? You start Airlink or Link, in the Oculus debug tool, you force ASW ON and check again within the game you from your video? I'm curious to know if you're affected as well.

@TheAntiSocializer Should I give up with Meta Support? Look what they answer me (I asked them to raise my ASW issue) :

"Welcome back to Meta Store Support, This is Bassant. From Meta Store Support, I will be assisting you today with the ASW concern.

Sorry to hear that it's not working with you.

After some investigation, you can search for this topic on YouTube. You will find it under MAKE YOUR QUEST. 3LOOK AMAZING! MSFS VR Settings (via Oculus Link)

If you need any further help, don't hesitate to reply to this email."

I feel like they have absolutely no idea of what they're talking about and that you, in those forums, are of much more help. This is a bit depressing to say the least. I understand that they subcontract in India for the support , we all do, but why don't they raise the issue to the next level if they have no clue about it? At Ubisoft, we do raise issues to devs/engineers when it's a tricky one, we don't give those kind of out of place answers.

Maybe tomorrow I am feeling a bit under the weather today!

No rush, we're waiting for a fix for a year now 😅

Out of curiosity why not just use VD + AV1 10-bit at 200mbps? To me on the Quest 3 that looks better than most PCVR headsets do wired due to Q3's super clear lenses and huge sweet spot.

Because it doesn't support ASW but uses SSW which is not as good, and some game's VR mods are not compatible with VD. GTA V for example.

But since the wifi issues with the Quest 3, I'm using VD as Airlink is unusable and I agree that MSFS for example, is a lot clearer, smoother and image crisp with VD versus Link/Airlink.

But it doesn't change the fact that ASW is broken and that this is a massive issue to end users with a 40x series card. 😊
