ASW is completely broken and creates artefacts that prevents me from playing any PCVR game

Flobud

Hello,

I've the weirdest issue and it suddenly (well, at least I don't know what's causing it) appeared: ASW is triggering horrible artifacts, mostly on plain background.

Video of the issue:

- It happens on every game I've tried. It also happens on the PCVR Oculus Dashboard.

- This is not a framerate issue.

- It happens mainly on plain backgrounds and a lot less when there is details.

- It happens only with my 4090. If I put my 3090 back, the issue is gone.

Quest 2 (Link or Airlink)

4090 RTX with 526.86 drivers

Oculus software 46.0.0.230.0 (46.0.0.229.0)

Could you guys tell me if this is an issue on my side or if ASW is actually broken? Could be an Nvidia driver issue, Oculus software issue, I really don't know so I'd like some support from Oculus Team.

@MetaQuestSupport Have you guys ever seen this or got reports about a similar issue?

Thanks!

Does anyone know of a fix for this bug???
Has anyone received any help or information from the Meta team???
This is a disaster as far as the manufacturer is concerned and this will most certainly be my last VR headset from Meta.

Meta and their support never cared so they never fixed it. I'm wondering if the issue still happens on the 5x series 🤔

Hi @Bulva

We're just checking in with you to see if you managed to speak to us privately?   Do you still require assistance with your query?

Thank you.

I'm replying even if it wasn't for me because those answers are really obnoxious.

- This issue exists since the release of the Nvidia 4x series.
- I posted this thread in November 2022. More than 2 years ago.
- The repro steps are:
1/ Plug in a Nvidia 4x series
2/ Activate ASW
3/ Play a game where there is a plain background
4/ Observe the issue like in the video posted in the first post.

We've been trying to reach out to you guys for more than 2 years now. No one ever told us that the issue has been escalated, repro, worked on. We got nothing out of you. No news, like it never happened.

Why are you asking Bulva for a PM with details? To ask him to do/check completely unrelated things (reset headset, update video drivers, etc.) like your "Support Guide" tells you to?

The issue is on Meta's end since the release of the 4x series. There is NOTHING we can do on our end. But since you never took 5min of your time to escalate the issue so your QA can repro and log a bug (10 more minutes) so the devs can look into it and fix the bug, of course, the issue is still present.

I'm working in the videogame QA field for 15 years now and I've never seen such an unprofessional behavior.

So please, since all the details are basically just the repro steps posted above, just escalate this issue and keep us posted.

Thank you.

Yup, just a quick check on Google and Reddit:

Posted 3 weeks ago - RTX 4070 incorrectly detected resulting in the famous:

- and 4060 similar issue - posted 1 month ago:

There are many more. I still fail to find solid evidence that Meta ever rewrote the PCVR Desktop app to fully support the RTX 4000 cards. It does seems to me that Meta stopped adding new fully checked and supported video cards in late 2020 or early 2021. But many were still able use newer cards, and eventually Meta just included RTX 4000 on their PCVR Link list of supported video cards.

I'd like to hear from users of 4000 cards that ASW2.0 is working perfectly - easy to see in very demanding games.

Looking forward to see Meta's support for RTX 5000 video cards - I'm not holding my breath 😅

Mat's attitude is embarrassing.
I have a huge grudge against Meta for misleading potential customers (deliberately lying) that Q3 works with RTX 40 cards... with ASW via a cable connection.
I hesitated for a long time before buying another pair of goggles and if I had known earlier (and had not been lied to by the manufacturer's website) I would have definitely bought VR goggles from another company.
I think we need to write about this as much as possible and warn potential buyers.
I am involved in the world of flight simulations and the problem of the ASW defect is very significant, and all users experience it.

P.S. I've lived in this world too long to have any hope of fixing this glitch.
And the embarrassing responses from Meta about wanting to help and that they'll take care of the problem only bring a smile of doubt and sadness to my face. ...
