I've found some answers on the forum but nothing works. Most are old so the menu display already changed. My quest knows that i connected the cable because it starts to charge, but i can only find a button to use the air link option ( that doesn't work for me because of my poor internet). So i can't play any of my Steam VR games, making my quest useless. Anyone knows how to bring the pop up back?
In the current firmware you click on Settings, then click on System. In the system window, scroll down to find Developer on the left-hand side bar. The USB Connection dialog prompt is in there. I'm not 100% sure if you need to enable developer mode on the phone or not but I don't believe you need a full developer account to make the menu visible.
After 2 days i finally found this forum. Created an organization (Stupid step, there's literally no reason they ask you to do that, seems like they're trying to waste your time on purpose, huh). Then i found the option to turn the notification back on in developer options, (it's like one of the only 2 developer features, i mean they had to create an entire head wrecking developer mode just for that, why not just put inside the reach of children).
No thanks to oculus, i don't appreciate you stealing my entire weekend. I just lost my whole interest in what i wanted to do in VR this weekend. I try not to hate, but i start to get why people out there don't like the metaverse.
It is absolutely unacceptable that selecting "Do not show this again" is not a PERMANENT LOCK ON THE BLUE, HIGHLIGHTED OPTION. What a disaster of a UI. The only explanation for the UI being this bad is that they purposefully want to funnel people into this "developer program" designed to suck more personal info out of you before giving you basic file access to a device you bought.
Accessing storage in a device is not a "developer" feature an this shouldn't be behind so many steps when you're CRAPPY UI causes this issue for EVERYONE who has it.
Clicking Oculus Link in quick settings works for me too. I still have the pop-up to Allow access to data but I don't get the other pop-up to enable Oculus Link, since I clicked don't show again on that. For me there's also a bar that pops up for a few seconds that says Oculus Oculus Link, but I don't click on that because it takes me to settings (so unhelpful!) instead of quick settings. Make sure air link is off if using the cable. I'm ok doing it this way but I can see how frustrating this UI is at present. I hope it gets better.
Edit: Just upgraded to version 42 and it is better! Clicking the temporary bar Oculus Link pop-up now takes me to quick settings, I'm happy about that 🙂 Edit 2: And there's also a way to open link / rift in the settings menu again now. Settings > System > Quest Link > Launch Quest Link
