Active USB3 extension cable prevents computer from shutting down

I have this weird problem where my active USB3 extension cable reboots my PC as soon as I've shut it down.
The cable is connected to my Inateck 5-Port USB3 card and otherwise working great.
I'm using the standard W10 drivers for the USB card (I rather not use the Inateck drivers as long as it's not necessary).
When I shut down Windows everything seems to go as normal but around 3 seconds after it's completely shut down it automatically boots up again. It looks the same like when you have Wake on Lan activated.
It doesn't happen when I plug the Rift straight in to the same port on the card and it also doesn't happen as long as the extension cable is plugged in but nothing is connected to it.
Any idea what's causing this?

My computer actually does a similar thing - it doesn't power down and stay off.  I also have an active USB3 extension cable going to one of my sensors, however I had this issue well before I was using my extension cable.  Ever since I moved to Windows10 I've had this problem.  This never occurred when I was on Windows 7.

This isn't a big deal to me as I hardly ever power my computer down, but when I do I wait for the system to power down completely then turn off the switch on the power supply.  After a little while I can turn the power supply switch back on and the computer stays off.

I have a 4 port Inateck USB3 card using the Fresco Logic drivers and since you're using the Windows drivers I doubt it's a driver issue.

It's more a power related issue.  I wonder if there is some sort of residual power floating around the system that's giving a cue to the motherboard to start up.  I've tried adjusting the power down options in control panel to no avail.

I haven't tried unplugging all the USB devices to narrow down what device is inducing this (if any).

I'd be curious to know if anyone else has this issue as well.

I have a similar thing happen with putting my pc to sleep but different circumstances. I use windows 10 as well, but for me this started with my Logitech G29 steering wheel, H shifter and pedals setup. Every time I put my pc to sleep a few seconds later my wheel does a full turn to the left, a full turn to the right and then centers itself as my pc wakes back up. I have to do a full shut down if I want my pc to stay off. I've never had any pc wake from a full shut down though, I didn't even think it was possible to power a pc back from full shut down other then by hitting the power button. With us 3 having similar issues but under varied circumstances this leads me to suspect this is some kind of a windows 10 issue.

Interesting to read your comments, thanks!
I have solved it now by plugging the active USB3 extension cable + Rift in to a USB3 port on my mainboard and the problem is gone. So it also seems to have something to do with the Inateck card since Rob_In_Phoenix is having the exact same issue (spontaneous reboot from completely shut down system), also in combination with an Inateck card.
Rob, did you by any chance buy the Inateck around the same time you switched to Windows 10? Or did you already have the problem before the Inateck card?

You know, I can't turn my computer to sleep without it waking up. It's random though, sometimes it wakes up in seconds, other times it can be 45 minutes until it wakes. I've tried every console command I could find, and shut off all sorts of things in device manager, and it still awakens. I will check now to see if it's because of the USB cables (I'm using an extension for Rift).

Thanks for the update Nisei.  I pretty much went to Windows 10 once I had decided to go VR.  Very shortly after, I bought the Inateck card before I even got the Rift itself to stave off any USB bandwidth issues.

In all honesty I don't remember if I had reboot issues prior to buying the Inateck card since I had just installed Windows 10.

Maybe it's just the Inateck card after all.  With devices plugged into it, maybe there is some residual power after shut down that the system interprets as a start-up signal.

Just FYI, I'm running an Intel DX79SI motherboard (LGA2011) with a 6 core I7-3960X.  This is an older configuration that not many people have anymore.  I was a little afraid that an older board like this would have a problem with something like a Rift, but it's been great so far.  I'm now running 3 sensors flawlessly.

Nisei, what do you currently have plugged into your Inateck card right now?  Sensors?

Thanks for the info Rob.
Yes, I have my 2 sensors and X-Box wireless remote adapter plugged into the Inateck card.
The Rift itself is connected to a USB3 port on my mainboard.
Before I had the Inateck card I had everything connected to a USB3 hub (not enough USB3 ports on my mainboard to connect both remotes and the Rift). It was all working fine but I constantly got warnings that the sensors got disconnected. Now that the sensors are on the Inateck card this has been solved and the Rift itself connected to the mainboard USB3 port works fine too.
