After 20h of playing screen started tearing with Quest 2 Link PCVR games

Description:
Screen image starts tearing and lagging after 1
- 30 minutes of playing Into the Radius or Blade and Sorcery through AirLink. Games plays good for a while, then suddenly game stops for 1 second and then the image is broken until it is restarted. It is visible in VR but not on the PC monitor. It started happening few days ago all of sudden. It goes away for little while when VR screens are turned off when i take off VR. Or when i want to take screenshots of it. Or when the game or AirLink is restarted. Or when graphic settings are set to low, when on high it starts again right away.

What i tried: Steam and Nvidia experience overlay turned off. Drivers updated today. Quest on factory settings. Game files verified. Tried Steam Link but that is worse. Router turned off for 30 sec. Quest is only device on my 5G. Tried 90hz and 72hz. No additional accessories, only headphones, tried without them also.Screenshot_1.png

Steps-to-reproduce: It happens seemingly on random. I could be doing anything - i tried. Any map, any time, any activity.

Frequency: Always recently

Hardware and software: Meta Quest 2 on 72hz and recomended resolution, Meta Quest Link version 66.0.0.308.370 (66.0.0.308.370), Quest 2 version: 66.0.0.817.370.615728748, router AC1900 MR50G (1300Mbps 5GHz, 11ac/a/b/g/n compatible) all AirLink tests are green.

CPU/GPU/RAM: i5 2.6GHz/3060Ti/16GB

Is it maybe throttling? It was pretty hot these days - around 30°C. This morning was much colder and i was able to play for an hour or so without any issue.

Hey there, @JerryOak! We're glad you were able to get a bit more playtime in today! Let's see what we can do so you can use Air Link as seamlessly as possible!

Please answer a few questions for us so we can have a better idea of what may be causing the tearing and lag:

  • Did this start happening after your factory reset or changes to your setup?
  • Does this only happen with Into the Radius and Blade of Sorcery?
  • Is your router in the same room as the PC and headset?
  • Are you using a VPN?
  • Are you using any of the following:
    • A Mesh Network
    • Wireless Extenders
    • The default gateway from your ISP
    • A password on your network

Also, try the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Hard Reboot
    • Turn off your headset.
    • Hold the power and volume buttons on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
    • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Boot Device, and press the power button.
    • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.
  • Restart PC
  • Restart Router

Please let us know if any of the troubleshooting steps helped at all. We look forward to hearing back from you!

Hi again, @JerryOak ! Thanks for letting us know the troubleshooting you were able to do and answering our questions!

Please try the following:

Re-Pairing Air Link

  • In Quest, headset:
    1. Navigate to the Settings menu.
    2. Ensure "Air Link" is disabled/toggled off.
  • Restart both the Quest and the PC, and re-pair the Quest to the PC following the set-up steps in our article: here

I connected to 5G network with my phone and did what you wanted.

Key is "MVGS267X"

There is no Improve Facebook Device Performance. There is only this:Screenshot_20240701-215545.jpg

Thank you for providing us with that screenshot, @JerryOak, and we also see that you have sent us a private message. We will be handling this issue in the PM's.
