Air link connection problems

DiamantinoOp
Protege

My air link sometimes work and sometimes doesn't and idk, why. Basically it doesn't connect to my pc and when it does it says some requirements are missing (idk which ones tough), i tried restarting the router, oculus app, the visor and the pc, switching to beta, update the oculus and repairing the app, and changing the name of the pc and the network SSID, none of those worked. What else could it be?

I finally fixed it, i uninstalled the pc app, purged every single folder of the app and then reinstalled it, now it works perfectly and it says it has all the requisites, thx for the help :).

Hey there! We thank you for bringing this to our attention and taking some troubleshooting steps on your own; it's good to see you're ahead of us. We know how this Air Link issue can hinder your gaming experience. No worries, let's try to resolve this quickly. Since the Air Link works sometimes, we'd like to know if any changes have happened to the following:

  • Network Changes: Network name change, new password, new placement, new Ethernet-connected device, new device(s) joined, new router, new modem, new ISP, added extender
  • PC: - New Hardware of Software, new placement, change to Wi-Fi/Ethernet
  • HMD - Dropped/Damaged, New Accessories, recent Factory Reset
  • Play Space - New play space, new items in play space, new appliances in home, new home

Could you also answer the following:

  • Is the Router in the same room as the PC and headset?
  • Are you using a VPN? weather on PC or Router?

Below we have also listed a couple of best practices:

  • Have your PC connected to Router/Access Point via Ethernet cable and not Wi-Fi
  • Headset should be connected to Wi-Fi via 5GHz band (AC or AX)
  • Router in the same room as the headset or in line-of-sight, and at least 1m (3.3ft) off the ground
  • Non-mesh network configuration

Looking forward to your response!

Hi, I tried changing the network names to try and fix the issue, but it didn't work, i did not change my pc location, i did not drop the HMD and the play space is the same.

Yes, the router is in the same room of my pc and headset.

No, i'm not using a vpn.

My pc is connected to the router via ethernet (i tried via wi-fi too but nope).

The headset is connected via 5Ghz.

yes, the router is in the same room and at least 1m from the ground and network is not mesh.

idk if it's useful but my router is Wi-Fi 4.

Hey there! Thank you for that information. We ask that you try repairing your Air Link, sometimes the issue can be resolved by completely disabling the functionality on the Quest 2. To ensure the process is completed properly, use these steps:

  • In Quest 2,
    1. Navigate to the Settings menu.
    2. Ensure "Air Link" is disabled or toggled off.

Next, restart both the Quest 2 and the PC, and re-pair the Quest 2 to the PC following the set-up steps here.

Let us know if that works!

Thx for the fast reply, i toggled of air link and tried to restart both pc and the Quest 2, but when i click "Pair" on the quest, it just grays out and nothing happens on the pc.

Do you happen to be familiar with your computer's specifications, just out of curiosity? This can have an immediate effect on the PCVR capabilities of the Quest. For the headset to operate at its maximum potential, a few components must be present on the computer. The prerequisites are listed here.

Yes, here are the specs:
Cpu: Intel i9-10900 XE

Gpu: RTX 2070 Super

I tried to follow what was said on that post, but didn't help. Instead i noticed that the meta quest 2 seems to find my pc even when it is off and not paired, maybe that's the problem? (cable link works fine)

Being that the cable works with the headset it might just be the Air Link capabilities. We are going to send you a link that has a litte bit of information about what might be going on with your Air Link. This might be a tedious process @DiamantinoOp but we hope you stick with us so that we can help figure this out with you. Please read through this article on our website, here.
