AirLink cable and taking screenshots problems

dariuszmatt
Explorer

These problems occurred after the update

-  while in PCVR with airline cable connection, first start of pc game runs smooth and normal, but when I quit gameplay, return to menu and click play again, it’s unplayable, stutters, ghosting, 5 fps max

- in Meta VR games and apps, after taking a screenshot with controller button and trigger, the screen is full of glitches and artifacts and all games are unplayable due to low fps. Creed rise to glory or Moss runs in 10 fps. The problem is widely described on reddit

are there any solutions or should we wait for another updates hoping they don’t break anything?

Hello there @dariuszmatt, we noticed that you are having issues when using Air Link and taking screenshots. Having PCVR be finicky and interfere with with your VR experience is not the outcome we want for you, and we understand how important addressing the latency and artifact issues that are popping up for you. We would love to do all that we can to look into this for you!

So that we can narrow down the cause, can you please review the following:

  • Can you please let us know of your specs?
  • Does both issue happen when using the Quest Link cable (the cable that came with the headset will suffice if you don't have the cable)?
  • Can you try to update your dedicated graphics card manually from their website?
  • Update your PC and drivers.
  • Disable the integrated graphics card.
  • Assign the dedicated card as primary.
  • Disable any and all VPN, firewalls, antivirus, and data/packet/network managing software.

You can also try to do a manual uninstall of the PC app to see if this helps:

  1. Disconnect the Rift/Link cable from the computer
  2. Disconnect your computer from the internet
  3. Backup any necessary content
  4. Reboot into Safe Mode
  5. Uninstall the Oculus PC app using the Control Panel
  6. Delete all Oculus folders from the following folder:
    • C:\Program Files
  7. Remove any Oculus folders from the following locations:
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Local
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\LocalLow
    • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Roaming
    • C:\OculusSetup-DownloadCache
    • Note: The AppData folder is usually hidden. Use these steps to access AppData.
      1. Press Windows key + R to launch the Run dialog window.
      2. Type %AppData% in the Run box and click OK or press Enter
      3. File Explorer will launch to the AppData\Roaming subfolder.
      4. Click AppData in the File Explorer address bar to show all three subfolders in the AppData location.
  8. Restart your computer in normal mode
  9. Reconnect your computer to the internet
  10. Install the Oculus PC app again using the setup tool from our website here
  11. Reconnect the Rift/Link cable and re-test the headset

Let us know how it goes. We hope to hear from you soon!
