App Sharing

I'm admin on my son's quest 3 and we have meta quest plus free trial. I installed the games but my son still seems to need to install again in his account. Is this correct? Are the games taking up double the space?

Hey @snappycoder, welcome to the VR community! We're happy to see that even your son is joining in on the fun! We see you have a question about app storage while app sharing is enabled. If your account on your headset is the main admin account, it will allow you to enable app sharing, which will let secondary accounts access certain games from the main admin account that are able to be shared. The additional accounts will have to "install" the game or app to allow everything to run properly for the user, creating a folder for settings and saved data.

Hi thanks i think I'm happy with the reply. I think you mean to say that app sharing doesn't take up twice the space but does have to install user support files for each new user. That's what I'm assuming.

Thanks

Hey there @snappycoder, you're absolutely correct! Just make sure to install the secondary user support files and you're all set! Thanks for reaching out, and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask us!

Ok… apologies for being slow on this. So I just added my wife to my Q3 so she can play Asgard’s Wrath which ‘required’ a second install. Doing so required I uninstall the last four games I’ve purchased in the last two months… so you’re saying this is *not* in fact expected behavior? That would be absolutely delightful to hear I’m not just being punished for purchasing the lower-storage model…..

Hello ! i have a meta quest 2 and i want to share app with my brother but when i try to active app sharing, its telling me that i already activate sharing app with another device, what i do with my old quest 2 that i don't have anymore. What can i do if i can not desactive the sharing app on my old quest 2 because like i say, i don't have it anymore ?

I bought some goal 3 and I had problems I changed them for another new unit and it doesn't activate sharing apps to second users

That I turned off the sharing of apps from the first meta3 but I don't have them, they were returned to the store and contact technical support.

Hey there @steele702! No apologies necessary! We're here to assist you! To play Asgard's Wrath, make sure you have ample space for both headsets. The game requires 28.94GB, so we suggest having double that amount. Once you've successfully downloaded Asgard's Wrath, you can reinstall any other games you previously uninstalled. We hope this information proves helpful!

Hello @GabKelen_QC! Did you factory reset your Quest 2, which you no longer have, and remove it from the app? You can use this link to remove your devices. This might be the reason why you can't share apps. Please inform us if this has made a difference!
